One of the greatest sports films of all time, crafted by the legendary duo of Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, lands on a new streaming home. Subscribers can now watch the acclaimed biographical drama, Raging Bull, on Amazon Prime Video.
Prime Video is the most recent streamer to acquire Raging Bull. The film is also available for fans on the free-to-watch streaming service, Tubi, and via Hulu. It’s also the latest Scorsese-De Niro classic to become available on streaming after the beloved Taxi Driver debuted in January.

Released in 1980, Raging Bull continues to be mentioned among the best sports biopics ever. The film sees De Niro portray former middleweight boxing champion Jake LaMotta, chronicling his rise and fall in the boxing world, plus his turbulent life outside the ring in which he was consumed by jealousy and rage. The film is based on LaMotta’s eponymous 1970 novel, with Taxi Driver scribe Paul Schrader co-writing its screenplay. Raging Bull boasts a star-studded cast, including Joe Pesci as fellow boxer and Jake’s younger brother Joey, Cathy Moriarty as Jake’s second wife Vickie and Cheers alum Nicholas Colosanto.
Though Raging Bull remains a knockout for many movie lovers, critics at the time felt its proverbial punches barely landed, and the film became a box-office flop, barely making back its $18 million budget. However, De Niro’s performance as LaMotta was well-received and culminated in him winning the Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of the boxing great. Raging Bull earned eight Oscar nods, including Best Picture and one of several Best Director nods for Scorsese. The film has also won critical approval over time, with a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Scorsese-De Niro partnership proved increasingly fruitful post-Raging Bull, with Goodfellas, Cape Fear, Casino and The Irishman earning varying levels of acclaim. Their most recent movie was the 2023 Western thriller, Killers of the Flower Moon, which saw De Niro play the villainous William Hale and Scorsese make a cameo as a radio producer. The film earned several accolades, including Best Picture, another Best Director nod for Scorsese and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for De Niro.
When Will Scorsese and De Niro Team Back Up?
When next Scorsese and De Niro will team up remains to be seen. De Niro recently admitted he’s unsure if he will feature in Scorsese’s upcoming film adaptation of Devil in the White City, Erik Larson’s novel chronicling serial killer H.H. Holmes. The duo have made 10 movies together since 1973, when they first worked together on Mean Streets.
Scorsese is also working on several other projects, including The Life of Jesus and an untitled crime drama starring another long-time collaborator, Leonardo DiCaprio, plus Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson. Meanwhile, De Niro is the star of his latest TV series, Netflix’s Zero Day, which topped the streamer’s charts despite mixed reviews.
