Mistakes happen all the time, but it’s more fascinating when they end up in movies and TV as they had to have been missed by multiple people and departments.
Although none of these mistakes break the show in any way, they are still fun to point out and appreciate.

The Infamous Starbucks Cup Still Haunts Game of Thrones Fans
Season 8, Episode 4:“The Last of the Starks”

Game of Thrones was once considered to be one of the most epic shows on television, creating fantastical worlds and characters told through brutal and intricate storytelling. However, by the time fans got the chance to see the final season, they were met with a show they didn’t recognize. Audiences ripped apart the show, as many were extremely disappointed with the conclusion of the epic saga. One scene in particular highlighted fans’ disappointment the most, the one where a Starbucks coffee cup was left open in a scene.

From Gendry’s marathon to why Jon Snow was murdered, Game of Thrones is no stranger to story inconsistencies.
Game of Thrones is set in 298 AC, so it’s safe to assume there weren’t any Starbucks-branded coffee cups lying around, especially coffee in general. Accidental cups or water bottles being left in a shot isn’t incredibly unique to Game of Thrones, and much blame has been thrown around as to who left the cup in the scene in the first place. HBO has since removed the cup, but audiences will never forget where they were when they saw a coffee cup star in an episode of Game of Thrones.

Disney Tried to Hide Jeans Guy in The Mandalorian
Season 2, Episode 4: “Chapter 12: The Siege”

Crew members get caught in the view of cameras all the time, and more often than not, nobody on set notices until the film is in the editing room. The Mandalorian famously had an unintended crew member appear in a scene. In the background of an action scene, someone wearing jeans and a t-shirt can be spotted just out of view, clearly something from a world that’s not so far away.
It’s clear that no one onset knew the crew member could be seen, and the audience lovingly dubbed the mistake as “Jeans Guy.” Disney+ has since removed Jeans Guy from the episode, disappointingly ending the short-lived pop-cultural moment. There is a conversation to be had about whether it’s right for a director, or especially a studio, to go back and “fix” what was a mistake in the original. Regardless, fans were sad to see this minor mistake erased, as it was a fun easter egg to spot for those who were looking for it.

Chandler Flubs His Blue Blazer Line in Friends
Season 4, Episode 11, “The One With Phoebe’s Uterus”

Friends is a flawless sitcom for its witty jokes, endearing stories, fun characters and amazing chemistry. One specific example for why it’s one of the best sitcoms can be found within the interactions between the characters.

10 Perfect Friends Episodes That Are Flawless From Beginning to End
Friends is a beloved sitcom for a reason; it has many flawless episodes that fans can’t get enough of because of how perfect they are.
The late Matthew Perry played Chandler, the resident jokester. In the episode, “The One With Phoebe’s Uterus,” he makes a sly comment about Joey’s new blazer, saying that he had to give his “blue blazer black.” Allegedly, the line was, “blue blazer back.” While most shows would call cut, Friends left the camera rolling, and the rest of the cast improvised a scene making fun of Chandler for his flub. In other shows, that would be a mistake worth fixing, but in Friends, they knew just how to make a joke even better.

One Detail in The Simpsons Undercuts Marge’s Pregnancy With Maggie
Season 6, Episode 13: “And Maggie Makes Three”

The Simpsons‘ legendary television reign has spanned over 36 seasons for more than 35 years. One episode fans have always appreciated, in particular, is a season six episode called, “And Maggie Makes Three.” In it, Lisa and Bart are curious about why there aren’t any baby pictures of Maggie in the photo albums. Before audiences know it, Homer becomes the hero of the show.
In the story, Homer quits his job at the power plant and follows his dreams of becoming a bowling alley employee. At first, he’s living his best life, until he and Marge get the unexpected news that she’s pregnant with Maggie. Homer realizes that he has to return to work at the power plant if he wants to afford this new child, and he takes all the pictures to remind himself who he is doing this for. This story is so sweet and funny that fans don’t even mind the obvious mistake that Maggie’s portrait is hanging on the wall in the flashbacks from before she was born.

Jim Halpert Signs For John Krasinski in The Offce
Season 4, Episode 5: “Launch Party Part 1”

The Office is another modern sitcom giant that audiences have enjoyed ever since its release. Over the years, fans have become so attentive to the show that a glaring mistake has made the rounds all over the internet. When Meredith is run over by Michael, he cracks her pelvis and she ends up getting a hilarious cast perfect for her character.
On her first time back, she asks Jim to sign it. He does, and that’s the end of the interaction. However, fans have noticed that Jim’s actor, John Krasinski, had just signed his own name on the cast. It’s pretty clear if audiences are looking for the mistake, but overall, it’s just a funny moment for everyone.

Dean Almost Calls Sam By the Supernatural Star’s Real Name
Season 1, Episode 19: “Provenance”
This mistake is so minor that it’s only known for its small buzz among fans and the fact that the actor involved admitted it to be true. In an early episode of the monster-hunting series Supernatural, starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, the Winchester brothers investigate a murder that was seemingly committed by a spirit in a haunted painting. The mistake comes in the form of a slight line flub from Ackles’ character, Dean.
When researching the painting, Dean apparently accidentally calls Sam, “Jared.” During a panel, Ackles admitted that he said his costar’s name accidentally, but the editors didn’t catch it, and it was left in the episode. It’s hard to find, and it’s not that big of a deal when comparing it to fifteen seasons of great television.

Nobody Cares About Will’s Birthday in Stranger Things
Season 4, Episode 1: “Chapter One: The Hellfire Club”

As grand as the Stranger Things series has gotten, each new episode is more like a Stranger Things movie at this point. Episodes in season four generally ranged from more than feature length, which is around an hour and fifteen minutes. The first episode to reintroduce fans to the series saw the beginning of several new story threads. In particular, Mike visits his old friends Will and Eleven in their new home state of California.

While having a day of fun, the three go to a roller rink where Eleven gets bullied by the local kids. One kid videotapes the whole humiliation, and the date on the camera reads March 22nd. Major fans of the series saw the mistake right away, as March 22nd is Will’s birthday, and the episode makes no mention or reference to the occasion. The Duffer Brothers, the creators of the series, acknowledged that it was just a genuine coincidence, and they completely forgot the fact in the first place.

Vision Isn’t Painted Underneath His Clothes
Season 1, Episode 3:“Now in Color”

WandaVision was the first of many Disney+ and Marvel shows to take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and audiences loved the eerie story, along with the enjoyable nostalgic feelings of every episode. With such a high production value, the smaller mistakes made onscreen can add to the overall feel of the episode. In the third episode, “Now in Color”, fans of the series spotted a minor mistake with the character of Vision, more specifically his red exterior.
Most episodes are meant to be an homage to a former classic sitcom. Episode three’s major sitcom influence was The Brady Bunch, and in the opening theme song, Vision quickly constructs a swing set. While working, fans can see that the actor Paul Bettany’s arm isn’t painted red like the rest of Vision’s body. While some pessimistically call it a mistake, others consider it a clever bit of storytelling, as many classic sitcoms similarly took shortcuts as well. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter to the overall story.

New York Is Filled With Fog in How I Met Your Mother
Season 1, Episode 11, “The Limo”

As television shows are adapted to streaming and bigger televisions, the aspect ratio can vastly change what is seen onscreen. Unfortunately for many classic television shows, this new aspect ratio gives audiences a peek into what was originally considered to be offscreen, usually open set designs that break the illusion of the story. However, this show gave too much away accidentally because of where a certain tool was placed onscreen.

Although HIMYM is a beloved sitcom, many of its main characters go through difficult phases of their lives.
How I Met Your Mother is a fresh, entertaining sitcom about five friends who live in New York, and their journeys through life and love. In the early episode, “The Limo”, some of the friends are driving through New York in the titular vehicle. Marshall, played by Jason Segel, runs to the limo to join his friends along the streets, which are iconically known for their smokey and noisy surroundings. However, fans spotted a smoke machine just out of view from the limo while Marshall was running, creating a small mistake that fans have enjoyed seeing upon a rewatch.

Modern Family Proves Phones Are Difficult To Use On TV
Season 6, Episode 13: “Rash Decisions”

Phones, and technology for that matter, in movies and television, don’t always work the way they need to on camera. For the most part, audiences can point out small mistakes seen by the actor’s phone screen or maybe something in the background on a television. Common mistakes include a phone screen that isn’t synced to the actor’s movements, or maybe the screen can clearly show that whoever is taking a call isn’t actually on a call. Probably the oddest out of all of them is a moment from Modern Family, an incredible sitcom from the last twenty years.
Modern Family stars a massive cast of hilarious characters and actors. Sarah Hyland plays Haley Dunphy, the ditsy and irresponsible oldest child of the Dunphy family. In the episode “Rash Decisions,” she takes a call while driving. Weirdly enough, if fans look close enough, they’ll see that the phone is upside down. It’s a small mistake, but one that highlights the kind of minor issues audiences have seen when it comes to phones onscreen.
