DC‘s multiverse is, as the Crisis events suggest, infinite, but some house more powerful heroes than others. In the DC All In Special #1 one-shot, DC introduced a brand-new universe, spawned from Darkseid’s own cosmic energy after his apparent death. The Absolute Universe houses new versions of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and more.

While plenty of DC alternate universes house more powerful versions of DC’s Trinity, the Absolute heroes are still godlike and could destroy some universes they crossed paths with while traveling DC’s vast multiverse. Even the young Justice Society of Earth-2, the inexperienced heroes of Earth One and the Shazam Family of Thunderworld would fall to the Absolute Justice League.

Martian Manhunter is entering the Absolute Universe in a radically different way, so certain foes would make great villains for this incarnation.

10

The Rookie Justice League

Earth One

The Absolute Universe houses versions of DC’s Trinity that are relatively inexperienced, from a Superman who needs the help of an artificial Kryptonian costume, to a Batman without wealth, to a Wonder Woman from Hell. However, the Absolute heroes have been forced to make up for what they don’t have, giving them advantages over the heroes of Earth One.

Notable Heroes:

  • Superman
  • Batman
  • Wonder Woman
  • Green Lantern
  • Teen Titans

The Earth One Justice Leaguers are also relatively new to the superhero life. Batman makes mistakes, Superman is younger and less powerful. The Absolute Batman has his size, Wonder Woman has her years of development under Circe and Superman has years of experience with advanced Kryptonian technology.

Earth-2

The Wonders of Earth-2 lost their “big guns” in the very first issue of Earth 2. Superman and Wonder Woman seemingly died––later revealed as mind-controlled agents of Darkseid, while Bruce Wayne’s Batman really did perish. Without their big Trinity, the Absolute Universe would win any confrontation.

Notable Heroes:

  • Green Lantern (Alan Scott)
  • Hawkgirl
  • Red Tornado
  • The Flash (Jay Garrick)
  • Superman (Val-Zod)
  • Batman (Richard Grayson)

With the coming additions of Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern and the Flash, the Absolute is about to have its first full Justice League roster. That means it will be powerful enough to stand against the equally young and inexperienced Justice Society of Earth-2.

The Characters Who Would Be Watchmen

Earth-4 (Charlton)

At first glance, the Charlton heroes closely resemble the characters from Alan Moore’s Watchmen graphic novel. Moore was actually inspired by a specific group of heroes, modifying them and changing their names to fit his Watchmen vision. While the Charlton heroes are powerful, they’re nowhere near as terrifying as their Watchmen counterparts.

Notable Heroes:

  • Captain Atom
  • Blue Beetle
  • The Question
  • Peacemaker

Like Watchmen‘s Doctor Manhattan, the Captain Atom of the Charlton universe is one of the few metahumans. The Absolute already boasts several super-powered beings, from Wonder Woman to Superman, who would dominate less powerful characters like Blue Beetle and the Question.

The World Of The Shazam Family

Thunderworld

Shazam is one of the most powerful heroes in the DC Universe. He possesses the strength and speed of gods, not to mention his magic can hurt Superman. In the Multiversity limited series, readers saw a version of Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family who lived on Thunderworld, separate from the rest of the Justice League.

Notable Heroes:

  • Shazam (Captain Marvel)
  • Mary Marvel
  • Captain Marvel, Jr.

The Absolute Universe heroes would outnumber the Marvel Family, but Shazam’s raw magical power would present a problem for Superman. They’d need to rely heavily on Absolute Wonder Woman and her experience with magic thanks to growing up with Circe.

6

Batman Beyond & The Justice League Of The Future

Earth-12 (Beyond)

The Justice League Beyond first appeared in the two-parter episode of Batman Beyond “The Call.” An older Superman, secretly controlled by Starro, recruits Terry McGinnis, introducing him to a futuristic lineup of the Justice League, including Warhawk, Barda, a version of Green Lantern and later an older version of Static. Despite their popularity, the Justice League Beyond is missing some incredibly powerful members who exist in the Absolute Universe.

Notable Heroes:

  • Batman Beyond
  • Superman Beyond
  • Barda, Warhawk
  • Green Lantern (Kai-Ro)

Martian Manhunter, Jo Mullein’s Green Lantern and Wally West’s Flash will soon be joining the Absolute Universe. Though all the Absolute heroes are young and, in some cases, less powerful than their counterparts in the Justice League Beyond, they still have advantages, especially with Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter on the team.

Growth of the Superman franchise involves the character’s evolution. An example is Absolute Superman, who can destroy many powerful Marvel villains.

A World Of DC’s Super Animals

Readers may, surprisingly, recognize Captain Carrot. The heroic leader of the Zoo Crew, anthropomorphic animal versions of the Justice League, appeared in Grant Morrison’s Multiversity, teaming with Calvin Ellis’s Superman and eventually helping to form the Justice League Incarnate, a multiversal Justice League.

Notable Heroes:

  • Captain Carrot
  • The Zoo Crew

Despite his surprising level of power, the Zoo Crew are just too optimistic and friendly to pose a real threat to the Absolute Universe, born of Darkseid’s bad energy. Captain Carrot certainly couldn’t stand against a Wonder Woman raised by Circe in Hell––quite adept at killing strange creatures already.

4

The Kid-Friendly Justice League

Earth-42 (Little League)

This one should be obvious, but the Justice League of Earth-42, otherwise known as the “Little League,” wouldn’t last two minutes against the heroes of the Absolute Universe. The Little League is a kid-friendly Justice League, fighting crime in a very bright, positive DC Universe.

Notable Heroes:

  • Batman (Dick Grayson)
  • Batman (Bruce Wayne)
  • Cyborg
  • The Flash
  • Green Arrow
  • Green Lantern
  • Hawkgirl
  • Hawkman
  • Superman
  • Steel
  • Wonder Woman

The Absolute Universe, on the other hand, was literally created from Darkseid’s corrupted cosmic energy, bathing everything in hatred and evil. The Little League had already faced bloodshed in Grant Morrison’s Multiversity. They couldn’t survive another serious attack from the Absolute Universe.

3

A Justice League Without Superman

JLA: The Nail

The Elseworlds JLA: The Nail miniseries explores a universe where Jonathan and Martha Kent never found Kal-El’s spaceship, due to a nail blowing one of their tires. Therefore, Clark Kent never became Superman, and the Justice League formed without their Man of Steel.

Notable Heroes:

  • Batman
  • Wonder Woman
  • Aquaman
  • The Flash
  • Hawkwoman
  • The Atom
  • Martian Manhunter
  • Green Lantern

Now, Absolute Superman also didn’t have the Kents to raise him, but he does have access to Kryptonian technology immediately on Earth and spent the majority of his childhood learning from Jor-El and Lara. The JLA is an extremely powerful team, but even Absolute Superman, younger and less powerful than his older counterpart, could win the battle for the Absolute Universe.

The Justice League Of The Wild West

Justice Riders

The Justice Riders have some pretty powerful members, from Wonder Woman to the Flash to Martian Manhunter. However, they’re missing some notable Justice Leaguers, such as Superman and Batman. The Absolute versions would turn the tide if the Justice Riders fought the heroes of the Absolute Universe.

Notable Heroes:

  • Wonder Woman
  • Booster Gold
  • Wally West
  • Ted Kord
  • Guy Gardner
  • Hawkman
  • Martian Manhunter

In addition to having the World’s Finest on their team, the Absolute Universe has advanced technology in the form of Superman’s Kryptonian suit. Wonder Woman also rides a skeletal steed and wields a Buster Sword, making her deadlier than ever.

1

The 19th Century Batman

Gotham by Gaslight

Like other Justice League teams from the past, the heroes of the Gotham by Gaslight universe would be woefully outgunned when it came to technological warfare. Yes, the new Kryptonian Age miniseries has introduced versions of Kryptonians, but they still pale in comparison to the technology Superman uses in Absolute Superman.

Notable Heroes:

  • Accelerated Man
  • Batman
  • Inspector Gordon
  • Shrinking Man
  • Wonder Woman

Many people in the 19th century believed in superstition and specters. Wonder Woman literally emerges from Hell as a warrior capable of killing demonic creatures. She alone is well-equipped to handle any threat the Gotham by Gaslight universe could throw at her.

The Justice League, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, pose together on the Justice League of America Vol. 1 comic cover.
