Lugia, the Diving Pokémon, is one of the three mascot Legendary Pokémon for the Johto region, alongside Ho-Oh and Suicune. Although Lugia is a Psychic/Flying-type Pokémon, it spends almost all of its time underwater, slumbering beneath the waves. This is so the Diving Pokémon does not accidentally bring harm to others; because of its powerful wings, Lugia can summon intense storms, even if it does not wish to. However, Lugia finds that it must emerge from the sea when the three Legendary birds of Kanto are captured by a Pokémon collector known as Lawrence III.

In Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One, Lawrence III plans to use Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres in order to do his bidding. Though the gentle Lugia would prefer to remain in the ocean, it nevertheless teams up with Ash and friends in order to rescue the Legendary birds and bring peace back to the Orange Islands. Although Lugia is not a Water-type Pokémon, the Diving Pokémon’s control over the element of water is marvelous and truly a sight to behold. While exploring the city, Ash and friends meet Tory, a young boy who is afraid of Pokémon, even ones like Pikachu. When Dialga and Palkia, two of the main Legendary Pokémon of the Sinnoh region, begin to clash, the fate of the region is uncertain. In order to calm the two powerful beasts down, Ash and friends must locate the Oración disk, and have it play at the Space-Time Towers. One Of The Greatest Movies in Anime History is a Pokémon Film

Pokémon: The First Movie has a major focus on battling just like the popular video games, but also has a surprisingly poignant message on life itself.

Ash and his friends soon encounter Mewtwo after it invites them to its palace, declaring itself as a Pokémon Master in its own right. Mewtwo’s powers are incomprehensible as well as extraordinary, with Psychic-type abilities able to match the strength of Mew itself. Mewtwo also possesses not just one, but two Mega Evolutions, as later revealed in Generation VI. While Mega Mewtwo X gives it the secondary Fighting-type, Mega Mewtwo Y focuses much more on its Psychic-type ability, making its Special Attack even more formidable.
