A24 started working on Tacoma FD in Season 3 and 4, giving the series a breath of fresh air. Like many other workplace sitcoms, this show places a great deal of focus on the firefighters themselves, allowing fans to learn more about their bizarre relationships and flaws. Admittedly, Tacoma FD may not suit everyone’s tastes, but it’s a light-hearted sitcom that doesn’t take too much energy to consume.

Starring John C. Reilly, Tim Heidecker, and Fred Armisen, Moonbase 8 follows a trio of useless astronauts as they try to climb up the ranks. The men are based at one of NASA’s training camps and hope to be selected as one of the groups to travel to the moon. However, all of the men are deeply flawed and don’t really have any interest in space at all.

For example, Professor Scott Sloan wanted to spread the gospel across the universe, and Michael Henai only got the job because of nepotism. The series also guest stars Travis Kelce, who does a great job of portraying a typical celebrity ambassador. Moonbase 8 isn’t exactly a sci-fi comedy and often feels like other classic sitcoms such as The Office or Parks and Rec.

There’s no denying that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has come a long way from 3rd Rock from the Sun, but Mr. Corman showcases his talents in an immaculate light. This show is definitely a slow burn, so it won’t suit everyone. But there’s something quite heart-warming about the protagonist and the love he has for his students. Although Levitt is a powerhouse, the students also offer pristine banter and lots of laughs.
