2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs is happy that her latest television sitcom, The Neighborhood, will have a proper send-off. She recently recalled how she and former co-star Kat Dennings did not get the same chance when their show ended.
Behrs starred as Caroline Channing in the CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls, which aired from Sept. 2011 to April 2017. The series ran for six seasons and over one hundred episodes, but declining ratings ultimately led to a surprise cancelation, which didn’t give the show’s producers the chance to provide closure for any of the characters and story arcs. “I’m just so grateful to [CBS] for a chance to say goodbye to Gemma the right way,” Behrs wrote in an Instagram post sharing news of The Neighborhood’s, eighth and final season.

“Most of my 20s were on 2 Broke Girls. Almost all of my 30s were on The Neighborhood, and I’ll usher in my 40s as we end our story,” the actor continued. “Kat Dennings and I never got a goodbye or an end to our 2 Broke Girls story.” Dennings shared her own excitement and appreciation for her former co-star on Behr’s post, commenting: “WOOOO!!! Go Beth!!!!”
The Neighborhood is Behr’s second major TV role. She plays Gemma Johnson, a principal at a private school in Los Angeles. The sitcom follows a white Midwestern family as they move to a predominantly black neighborhood in California, with Gemma’s new job being the reason the family makes their move. It has aired on CBS since 2018 and will be sent off with an eighth season to air in 2025 and 2026.
The show also stars Cedric the Entertainer, Max Greenfield and Tichina Arnold. In her post, Behrs also talked about getting to work with her co-stars and the fond memories she’s made. “These last seven years with my [Neighborhood] family have been some of the most memorable of my life. We made it through Covid, strikes, elections… and came out stronger. Forever grateful to our entire cast and crew. Here’s to the best season yet!”
