Honkai: Star Rail is known for releasing alternate versions of characters, giving them new abilities and a 5-star level, but it doesn’t have a set skin system yet. Longtime HoYoverse fans have enjoyed various outfits in titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd. Soon, Zenless Zone Zero, which is the newest game in the developer’s lineup, will launch a skin system. Many Honkai: Star Rail fans have been waiting for such a feature to arrive and after many leaks and rumors, the feature’s slowly coming to the game.
Back in 2023, the game revealed a new dress for March 7th, which she only wore during a one-off festival in Belobog. Honkai: Star Rail fans have since wondered what happened to the alternate skin, questioning whether HoYoverse would release a feature that would allow them to dress up their characters. Although it took a while, Honkai: Star Rail may finally be pulling the trigger on the skin system with the release of March 7th’s Belobog dress in Version 3.0.

March 7th’s Dress is Likely the Beginning For Character Skins in Honkai: Star Rail
During Honkai: Star Rail‘s Version 3.0 Special Program, it was revealed that players could get March 7th’s skin for free, but it could only be used in her Preservation form. Still, this was an exciting development because this will be the first time that players could change a playable character’s clothing and even go into battle in it. The best part is that they can get it for free once Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 comes out on January 15th.
How to Get March 7th’s Skin in Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0
- Update Honkai: Star Rail to the latest version.
- Log in and unlock the “character” function to claim and equip March 7th’s skin. Remember that this can only be used by her Preservation form, not her The Hunt form.
This could be a great sign that more character skins may be on the horizon in Honkai: Star Rail. As mentioned, the game is known for introducing 5-star versions of characters, such as Dan Heng’s Imbibitor Lunae and Tingyun’s Fugue, which offer a brand-new look for the characters. However, many fans also want to be able to change into special skins, just like Genshin Impact‘s selection of outfits. Additionally, this feature could be a great avenue to add more character lore, especially since Honkai: Star Rail already does it in the descriptions of Light Cones and Relics.
Honkai: Star Rail 3.0 Has the Perfect Excuse to Add Even More Skins
It would also be cool if Honkai: Star Rail capitalized on its various planets when creating skins for different characters. For instance, Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 will be the debut of Amphoreus, the fourth major planet that’s heavily inspired by Greek mythology. The new playable characters from this world are wearing elevated versions of Ancient Greek ensembles. Honkai: Star Rail could take advantage of the theme and give other playable characters a Greek-inspired outfit, and other themed outfits based on other worlds that the Astral Express Crew has visited. The possibilities are endless as the Astral Express continues traveling through the cosmos in future updates.
Although it took a while for Honkai: Star Rail to include a skin system for characters, HoYoverse developers continue to prove that they have the players’ best interests in mind, from implementing various quality-of-life updates to adding highly requested features, such as a customizable room for the Trailblazer on the Astral Express. The upcoming skin system in Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 may be starting out small, but it’s likely just the tip of the iceberg for more exciting outfits for the game’s growing roster of characters.
