The Ginyu Force rank among the most iconic villains in Dragon Ball. In the newest episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA, a clear homage to them has been introduced in the form of the Gendarmerie Force. This new evil group is composed of the strongest Gendarmerie under King Gomah’s command, signifying them as some of the Demon Realm’s toughest fighters.
Episode 14 of Dragon Ball DAIMA, “Taboo,” establishes that the Gendarmerie Force are both weaker than the Tamagamis, and exceptionally stupid. Even with this in mind, their place directly under Gomah and Degesu says a lot about the power they hold. The Gendarmerie Force aren’t the most powerful new fighters in Dragon Ball DAIMA, but there are still many Dragon Ball Z characters they can crush.

Burter is the Fastest Member of the Ginyu Force – But Speed Isn’t Everything
Burter is an Equal to Other Members of the Ginyu Force
Burter is a member of the inspiration for the Gendarmerie Force, the Ginyu Force. Prior to the events of Dragon Ball Z, the Ginyu Force was one of the greatest powers in Universe 7, serving directly under Frieza and King Cold. Burter stands out from his colorful companions with his speed, which he claims to make him the fastest warrior in the universe.
Fast as Burter may be, he wouldn’t be able to keep up with the Gendarmerie Force. During the Frieza Saga, the combined strength of Burter and Jeice wasn’t enough to pose a threat to Goku, who hadn’t even become a Super Saiyan yet. If the Gendarmerie Force couldn’t do anything against Super Saiyan Goku, they’d have no reason to be in Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Jeice Being the Second-in-Command of the Ginyu Force Won’t Save Him
Jeice Wouldn’t Last Long in the First Demon World
There were few fighters in Universe 7 capable of matching Jeice’s power and prestige at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z. As the second-in-command of the Ginyu Force, Jeice held authority over the vast majority of the Frieza Force and was strong enough to easily crush nearly any opponent. Unfortunately for Jeice, the power levels at this point in the series were significantly lower than the ones in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
The current rulers of the Demon Realm are Gomah and Degesu. The former is a master sorcerer who Dabura trusted to be his right-hand, while the latter is potentially on par in strength with the Supreme Kai. Even if the Gendarmerie Force is significantly weaker than them both, the gap between them and Jeice is simply too big to overlook.

Captain Ginyu Was Frieza’s Strongest Soldier, But That Means Nothing in the Demon Realm
The Leader of the Ginyu Force Can’t Stack Up to the Gendarmerie Force
Captain Ginyu possesses one of the most dangerous abilities in all of Dragon Ball. If he’s ever up against an opponent more powerful than himself, he can simply switch bodies with them. This isn’t an ability he ever often needed though, as Ginyu was Frieza’s most powerful servant during Dragon Ball Z.

Ginyu would lack any path to victory against the Gendarmerie Force. His power level can’t compare to theirs, and even switching bodies wouldn’t be enough to save him. Even if he did switch bodies with one of the Gendarmerie Force’s members, he’d still be outnumbered and outmatched.

Yamcha Thought He Was Ready to Fight the Androids When He Was Hopelessly Outclassed
Yamcha Spends Most of Dragon Ball Z Training For Little Gains
For all the jokes fans make about him, Yamcha has never lost his place as the third-strongest full human. Throughout Dragon Ball Z, he trains under Kami and King Kai, and pushes himself harder than ever to prepare for the arrival of the Androids. Over the course of the series, Yamcha goes from being weaker than King Piccolo to confident enough in his power that he feels ready to face enemies stronger than Frieza.
Yamcha may be more formidable than his reputation would suggest, but he still couldn’t combat the Gendarmerie Force. He may have been confident about fighting the Androids, but he still wound up being defeated instantly by Dr. Gero. With Yamcha mostly giving up on training after this – at least until Dragon Ball Super – he’d have no chance against Gomah’s special forces.

King Cold is as Menacing as His Son, But Even He’d Be Burned By Demons
King Cold Was No Match For Future Trunks
King Cold never has the chance to impress fans in Dragon Ball Z. Almost as soon as the father of Frieza is introduced, he’s brutally executed by Future Trunks. Before he’s killed, fans learn exactly how strong he is, with King Cold described as being equal in power to Frieza.
Tragically for King Cold, he’d last about as long against the Gendarmerie Force as he did against the son of Bulma and Vegeta. He may be able to destroy planets, but that means little against a team initially assembled by Dabura, who could destroy solar systems. He could potentially defeat a single member of the Gendarmerie Force, but absolutely not all five.

Frieza Was the Ultimate Power in Universe 7, But Hopeless Without His Golden Form
Frieza’s Strength is Dwarfed by the Demon Realm’s Kings
Prideful as he is, Frieza would never be able to overcome the shame of losing to the Gendarmerie Force. Yet, this is exactly the fate that would befall the Emperor of Universe 7 if he challenged them prior to Dragon Ball Super. It may seem ridiculous that a group of comic relief villains could be more dangerous than Dragon Ball’s most iconic villain, but all the Gendarmerie Force needs to do in DAIMA to cement themselves as Frieza’s superiors is just briefly clash with Goku and Vegeta.

Who Are Gomah’s Elite Squadron, the Gendarmerie Force, from Dragon Ball DAIMA?
Frieza was so powerful that he never felt the need to train, as there was no one capable of threatening him. The Z-Warriors spend the entire Frieza Saga trying to catch up to him, and most of them don’t even come close to succeeding. Yet, the instant Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time, he’s immediately outclassed. The only way Frieza wins – let alone survives – is if he’s his Dragon Ball Super variant.

Android 19 Beat a Super Saiyan, But He Wouldn’t Beat the Gendarmerie
Being Able to Absorb Energy Won’t Save Android 19 Against the Gendarmerie Force
Android 19 is a fully artifical fighter created using data from Universe 7’s strongest warriors. Its power was great enough that it could pose a challenge to Goku, even before his heart virus fully took him out of the fight. Android 19 was aided in this encounter both by its lack of ki, and its ability to drain it from others with its hands.
Android 19 is proven to not be as threatening as it initially appeared to be the moment Super Saiyan Vegeta appears. Vegeta thoroughly dismantles Android 19 before he kills it, and this version of the Saiyan Prince is much weaker than the one in Dragon Ball DAIMA. Gendarmerie aren’t even reliant on ki, instead possessing weapons and magic, meaning 19 wouldn’t even benefit from grabbing one.

Dr. Gero’s Brains Won’t Save Him
Android 20 Was Only Slightly Weaker Than Piccolo
For a brief time, Dr. Gero was the ultimate villain of Dragon Ball Z. Before it was revealed just how many mechanical monstrosities he’d developed, Gero presented himself as the face of evil, having transformed himself into Android 20. Android 20 was clearly presented as superior in strength, speed, and intelligence to Android 19, even if his power couldn’t compare to that of 16’s, 17’s, 18’s, or Cell’s.
The only reason 16, 17, and 18 even enter the series is because Dr. Gero gets frightened after he gets humiliated in battle by Piccolo. This is a version of Piccolo who hadn’t even fused with Kami yet, and is nowhere near as formidable as he is in Dragon Ball DAIMA. Dr. Gero would be one of the greatest minds in the Demon Realm, but he wouldn’t be one of the strongest fighters.

Tien Shinhan Enters Every Fight He Can, Even When He Knows He’ll Lose
Tien’s Tri-Beam Could Likely Kill Any Single Member of the Gendarmerie Force
Tien Shinhan is comfortably the second-strongest full human in Dragon Ball Z. While the former World Martial Arts Tournament champion is unable to keep up with the aliens, Androids, and demons he encounters throughout the series, he never stops training – and he never stops trying to fight the major villains, even when he’s fully aware that he has no chance at victory. In the anime only, he’s able to defeat Jeice and Burter. Using his Neo Tri-Beam, Tien is even able to do something no other non-Saiyan character in the Cell Saga could, and holds off Semi-Perfect Cell.

Dragon Ball DAIMA’s funniest episode yet gets lost in Gomah’s goofy goons as Goku and company get ready for Demon Realm danger.
Exclusively because of the Tri-Beam, Tien could potentially kill members of the Gendarmerie Force. By the end of DBZ, the Kikoho was so strong, it could deflect ki blasts fired by Super Buu – a villain with infinitely more power than even Goku and Vegeta have in Dragon Ball DAIMA. With how relatively weak Tien is on his own, however, he’d be done for if he missed even one of the Gendarmerie Force’s members.

Even Being the Strongest Earthling Wouldn’t Net Krillin the Win
Krillin Remains a Powerhouse Even After He Stops Training
Krillin is far and away the most prominent human in Dragon Ball Z, so it’s only fitting he becomes the strongest among his species by the end of the series, not counting Uub. While Krillin begins the anime weaker than Tien Shinhan, his continued training and getting his potential unlocked by Guru enable him to surpass his old friend. Even after settling down to be a husband and father for 7 years, Krillin continues to hold the title of strongest human, with none of Tien’s training helping him retake his former place.
Krillin at the end of DBZ would be a great match-up against the Gendarmerie Force, even if he still wouldn’t be able to win. He’s much craftier than they are, he has attacks that allow him to target multiple enemies at once, and his Destructo Disc has the potential to kill any opponent. The Gendarmerie Force’s superior power and numbers would ultimately be too much for Krillin to handle, but he’d make sure to take at least a few of them out before he died.
