UP Schools Closed: The UP Government has ordered the closure of schools for classes up to 8 due to cold weather conditions.
Due to severe weather conditions, the winter vacation for primary and upper primary schools under the Department of Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh, has been extended until January 17.
UP’s Basic Education Minister, Sandeep Singh has announced that winter vacations will be observed on January 16 and 17 for students up to Class 8. He stated that the Basic Education Department made this decision following the Meteorological Department’s forecast of a cold wave.
Basic Education Director Pratap Singh Baghel issued an order stating that, based on information from the Meteorological Department, the likelihood of a severe cold wave and rainfall in several districts prompted the declaration of school holidays from class 1 to 8 from January 16 to 17.
Notably, the winter vacation ended on January 14, and schools in many districts reopened on January 15.

Delhi Schools To Go Hybrid From Today
The Directorate of Education, Delhi has instructed schools in the national capital to conduct hybrid classes for students up to Class 9 and 11, in line with the GRAP 4 restrictions implemented by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
This directive applies to all schools in Delhi, including government, government-aided, unaided private schools, as well as NDMC, MCD, and Delhi Cantonment Board schools.
“All Heads of Schools of Govt., Govt. Aided, Unaided Recognized Private Schools of DoE, NDMC, MCD and Delhi Cantonment Board are directed to conduct classes in schools for children up to Class IX & XI in a ‘Hybrid Mode’ i.e., both in physical and online mode (wherever online mode is feasible) with immediate effect until further orders,” the DoE said in a circular dated January 15.
The CAQM has decided to implement all measures under Stage 3 (“Severe Air Quality of Delhi”) and Stage 4 (“Severe+” Air Quality of Delhi), in addition to the Stage 1 and 2 restrictions that are already in place.
