Some Devil Fruit powers are simply more convenient than others. While there is something to be said for straightforward combat utility, other Devil Fruits prove their worth by the convenience of having said power. To some extent, this can be measured by the ways in which users have managed to repurpose their powers outside of combat (or perhaps even the various ways they have done so within combat).

That said, this list will show how certain especially creative users have employed a variety of tactics to make the most of their versatile Devil Fruit powers.

Ope Ope no Mi
User: Trafalgar D. Water Law
- Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia
The Ope Ope no Mi is a Devil Fruit that allows its user to surgically reconstruct anything or anyone, without pain being inflicted during the process in the latter case. If the user is already a trained medical professional, this can be used to perform complex surgery where otherwise fatal objects can be removed without harm. However, this can also be used in combat to disorient foes, dismember them, or even swap their bodies around by transplanting personalities with them, as Law did with the various Straw Hat Pirates.
In order for this, and most of its abilities, to work, the person being operated upon must exist within the spatial field known as a ROOM. Within there, the user can swap things around as they please. As the Devil Fruit awakens, ROOMs can exist remotely, adhering to foreign objects rather than the user.
This Devil Fruit is masterfully matched with a medical professional, such as Law, who can cure virtually any disease with it. The signature ability of this Devil Fruit, however, is the perennial youth operation, where, through currently unknown means, the user can kill themselves in exchange for the eternal youth of whoever they operate on. Doflamingo claims this, in combination with a presently unclear treasure possessed by the World Nobles, can be used to take over the world, possibly in perpetuity.

Nikyu Nikyu no Mi
User: Bartholomew Kuma
- Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia
The Nikyu Nikyu no Mi permanently affixes palm pads onto whoever consumes it. These paws are capable of sending things flying. This can apply to individual people, as Kuma sent every one of the Straw Hats flying to where they spent most of the timeskip. However, this can also apply to aspects such as physical pain, memories, disease, and more.
Kuma notably removed and stored memories relevant to his and Bonney’s past in an effort to protect her from all the pain he suffered during his lifetime. Kuma is also capable of attacking with the palms by thrusting compressed air, and using them as a method of defense. Kuma can also use them to transport himself, by using his paws to propel himself. Since this ability is permanently affixed to his body, he wears gloves on his hands when they are not in use.

Hito Hito no Mi
User: Tony Tony Chopper
The Hito Hito no Mi gives its user human-level intellect. Though this is of little use to humans and beings of equivalent intelligence, it was the perfect fit for Tony Tony Chopper, a reindeer who was shunned by his kind. Upon gaining human intellect, Chopper eventually became an assistant to Hiriluk, a quack doctor, who took him in as an adopted son. After his passing, Hiriluk’s friend, Dr. Kureha turned Chopper into a fully-fledged doctor, as a sort of final favor to her late friend. He spent most of this time acting as her assistant.
Chopper was eventually invited by Luffy to join the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper’s Devil Fruit, like most Zoans, allows him to transform into three different forms at base. However, Chopper made use of his medical expertise to concoct a drug known as the Rumble Ball. His various transformations benefit him in different forms of combat, ultimately making him something of a Swiss Army knife in terms of fighting ability. Chopper can also translate between animals and humans, as he is still capable of understanding animal language after his transformation.

Pero Pero no Mi
User: Charlotte Perospero
- Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia
The Pero Pero no Mi allows the user to create and control candy. Charlotte Perospero typically molds the candy he generates into a variety of objects, but not exclusively for combat. His candy is especially sturdy, and has been able to resist attacks from the likes of Bege’s Big Father and the Vinsmoke brothers’ superhuman abilities. He has also created functional mechanisms, such as escalators, entirely out of his candy. After losing his arm in a duel with Pedro after the mink did a suicide bombing, Perospero fashioned a candy prosthetic arm for himself.

Perospero has also been shown creating multiple candy crafts that can brave the seas, an especially desirable attribute considering that he and many of his crewmates are Devil Fruit users.

Doru Doru no Mi
User: Galdino “Mr. 3”
- Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia
The Doru Doru no Mi allows the user to create wax from their body and control it. This seems like a fairly pedestrian ability in some regards, but in Galdino’s hands, it is more than just a weapon. Beyond the basic molding of wax into weapons (a factor bolstered by its steel-like consistency upon hardening), he has shown many other uses for his wax. He created multiple kinds of wax barriers, making use of its resistance to acidity. He has created restraints, ranging from basic locks to an elaborate candle set which doubled as a torture device with fatal consequences. He has made fully functional keys that can be used to unlock various locations in the absence of the lock’s true key.
He has also made dummies of both himself and others to throw people off, though this strategy required the assistance of his partner in Baroque Works, Marianne, aka. Miss Goldenweek, who would paint them for full accuracy. Beyond his ability to mold the wax, Mr. 3 also managed to use it to somehow fuel a personal ship of his, an ability more commonly reserved for Logia users.

Baku Baku no Mi
User: Wapol
- Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia
The Baku Baku no Mi allows the user to merge with anything they have eaten and allows them to consume inedible objects (and beings) as if they were actually edible. Wapol managed to use this to create several forms suited for combat by transforming the food he had eaten into part of his body. He is also able to fuse multiple eaten objects into new things. He used this skill to fuse his two strongest men into a single combatant. It was also this ability that allowed him to create a shape-memory alloy known as wapometal, a byproduct of a garbage binge he went on after he became homeless.

Commonly due to clashes of ideals, these pirates have negative relationships with their fathers.
His garbage inadvertently became toys, which he steadily sold, restoring the former wealth and prestige he enjoyed as the ruler of Drum Kingdom. This resulted in the World Government giving him a new domain, Evil Black Drum Kingdom. Wapol’s transformations and utilities seem bound only by his appetite, making his Devil Fruit a very diverse one indeed.

Nomi Nomi no Mi
User: Dr. Vegapunk (Formerly?)

The Nomi Nomi no Mi was the Devil Fruit eaten by Dr. Vegapunk. After the death of his main body, yet the continued survival of alternate selves, such as the Satellites, it is unclear what has happened to it. What is clear is the fact that this Devil Fruit is responsible for exponentially increasing his intellect. Even after his death, the knowledge itself is seemingly preserved in his disembodied brain.
Although Vegapunk was already a very intelligent man, the Nomi Nomi no Mi allowed him to remember everything he had ever learned in perfect detail. This allowed him to discover and understand many of the scientific advancements known within the One Piece universe. However, it all came at the cost of his head and brain continually growing to accommodate the new knowledge it possessed, yet with his intellect, he managed to work around this as well. He transformed his ever-expanding brain into Punk Records, a library that his brain could connect to and access the knowledge it possessed remotely.
This knowledge included research on a variety of advances in terms of Devil Fruit research, weapons production, and virtually every other field of science. Dr. Vegapunk was also able to split his being into six separate entities, known as Satellites, who each embodied an aspect of him. These Satellites were also connected to Punk Records, and could collectively receive his knowledge. Unfortunately, this backfired when York, the Satellite embodying his aspect of greed, backstabbed the others and attempted to use the knowledge she had access to as a bargaining chip to be made a World Noble. This gambit succeeded but deteriorated her relationship with the other Satellites, who she was more than willing to let die.
Punk Records has been temporarily taken offline in the wake of the World Government’s ambush on Egghead, yet most of the surviving Satellites wish to eventually make it public. Ultimately, the collection and understanding of various forms of research was accomplished by this Devil Fruit, which allowed its user to obtain that knowledge. This singular purpose has been extrapolated to innovate on a level unmatched by anyone in the entire series, with the many forms of research it has been able to capture and advance, giving it an unmatched versatility.
