The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has secured a spot in the top 100 list for engineering institutes in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, ranking 99th with a score of 60.5. This marks an improvement from its previous ranking in the 101-125 band.
The Anna University follows in the 251–300 range, with scores between 44.7 and 46.6. Lovely Professional University is ranked 301–400, with a score range of 41.3 to 44.6. Both Jamia Millia Islamia and Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences are ranked 401–500, with scores ranging from 38.3 to 41.2. These institutions are recognised for their contributions to engineering education and research in India.

Meanwhile, Harvard University continues to hold the top spot, In the Engineering Subject Rankings 2025, followed by Stanford, MIT, and Oxford. MIT excels with the highest teaching score in engineering, while the University of Oxford stands out for its outstanding research environment. ETH Zurich has made a notable return to the top 10, improving from its previous position.
The Times Higher Education (THE) has released the World University Rankings by Subject for 2025, covering 11 disciplines: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Computer Science, Education Studies, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Medical and Health, Physical Sciences, Psychology, and Social Sciences.
Notably, universities from the United States and the United Kingdom dominate the top ranks across all subjects. The US institutions occupy the top position in nine subjects, while UK universities take the lead in the other two, underscoring the ongoing dominance of these two countries in global higher education.
