Former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield is hospitalized following a stroke earlier this month.

Pinfield’s radio station KCSN shared in a Facebook post on Jan. 7 that he would be taking a “temporary leave of absence for personal reasons.” It continued, “We fully support Matt and hope to have his energetic rock n’ roll knowledge back on the air soon.”

According to PEOPLE, Pinfield, 63, remains hospitalized and TMZ reports that Pinfield’s daughter, Jessica, has filed documents for a legal conservatorship.

A representative for Pinfield reached by Entertainment Weekly declined to comment on his condition.

The parent company of his other station, L.A.’s 95.5 KLOS, issued its own statement published on the Radio and Music Pros website: “Everyone at KLOS & Meruelo Media, along with Matt’s family (daughters Jessica and Maya, brother Glen, sister Colleen, mother Nancy), his girlfriend Kara, and the entire rock and roll universe support Matt in taking some time off to rest and heal. Matt is a family member, and we look forward to having him back on the KLOS airwaves as soon as possible. We know his fans across the country and all the artists feel the same way.”

Known to MTV fans as a former VJ and host of shows such as 120 Minutes, Pinfield first appeared on the network in the ’90s, of the channel’s new reality series,The Real World. He had already worked in radio, but his TV appearance opened up a new medium for him, according to the bio on his website.

In 1995, he began hosting 120 Minutes, the alternative-focused series that MTV had aired since the mid-’80s. After leaving the series in 1999 — he returned to it briefly to host the MTV2 revival in 2011 — Pinfield continued to work in music, becoming an A&R rep for Columbia Records and then working on podcasts and returning to radio.

Pinfield looked back on some of his favorite moments from his memorable role in a July 2011 interview with EW.

He reminisced on the Oasis interview he did on Oct. 15, 1995. No surprise that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher hadn’t been getting along.

“During that first show I did with Oasis, they ended up fighting over which football team is better in their hometown of Manchester: Manchester City or Manchester United,” Pinfield said. “While the cameras were rolling, they were ready to brawl on the set— ‘City’s the best! No, United’s the best!’ —and I just looked at the camera and said, ‘Obviously these guys aren’t going to come to an agreement right now, so it’s time for a commercial.'”

He also geeked out looking back at his encounter with Porno for Pyros on Nov. 2, 1997.

Perry Farrell got rocked on a bottle of cabernet, and he changed the lyrics of their song ‘Kimberly Austin’ to ‘Matt Pinfield.’ Quite an honor. Imagine that song being about you?”
