Absolutely nothing has been revealed about Gwendoline Christie‘s role on Severance … and the wait has been killing her.
“It’s not often that you get transported into your favorite TV show,” Christie exclusively tells Entertainment Weekly. “I haven’t spoken about the character fully with anybody — with the people I work with, with my partner, with any of my friends at all. I’ve really done my best to keep all of this information to myself.”
But the wait is almost over, as the Game of Thrones alum makes her debut in Friday’s episode, titled “Who Is Alive?”. EW has an exclusive sneak peek at her intimidating Lumon employee Lorne (in the photo above).
While she’s no stranger to keeping major TV secrets after her seven-year run on the HBO fantasy series, Christie is relieved that she’s finally able to open up about her new, mysterious role. “This is literally the first time I’ve spoken about the character,” she says. “Because one of the things I do adore about the show is this extraordinary, very fulfilled sense of mystery.”
While Christie isn’t able to reveal much about Lorne’s job before fans see episode 3 (come back to EW after watching the episode for her spoiler-filled chat!), she says that appearing on the Apple TV+ workplace thriller has been a dream come true because she was a fan long before she was cast for season 2.

“I think this transcends television and I don’t say that lightly,” she says. “I remember I met with Ben Stiller, and he told me about the show, and I was fascinated by the sound of it before he’d started work on it. And when it aired, I sat down to watch it and I was completely blown away by its total freshness and originality and imagination. It’s an incredibly artful series. The way in which it’s shot is hugely sophisticated. I think it’s exceptional on every level. The performances are outstanding.”
When she landed the role of Lorne, she “fell to her knees” as she learned about what her character does at Lumon and who she would get to film with. “I couldn’t wait to work with that fabulous cast, and I couldn’t wait to be in that strange, clinical, otherworldly environment,” she says. “It was a true great gift to be invited to be a part of the series. It was just such a fulfilling experience as an actor and a creative. This piece of work’s really spoken to me and I really adore it. I’m so hugely grateful to be a part of it.”
