Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu virtually inaugurated Hero Future Energies’ (HFE) green hydrogen blending plant at Rockman Industries in Tirupati, from the Secretariat on Monday (March 03).
The project pioneers the mixing of green hydrogen with PNG/LPG for industrial furnace applications, which significantly reduces carbon emissions.
The initiative is expected to align with the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047 and the State’s commitment to becoming a global hub for green hydrogen production and adoption, for which the government launched the Integrated Clean Energy ICE Policy – 2024 (ICEP) with a target to create 160 GW renewable energy capacity.
Addressing the gathering on the plant premises, Mr. Naidu said with its strong industrial base and progressive energy policies, Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) was well-positioned to lead India’s green hydrogen revolution, and that the State government was determined to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, supporting India’s Net-Zero by 2070 goal and contributing to energy security while reducing crude oil imports.
He observed that the ICEP was focused on green hydrogen production, electrolyser manufacturing, and creation of infrastructure for hydrogen-powered mobility, and assured the prospective investors of full support to clean energy projects.
HFE founder chairman and managing director Rahul Munjal said the Tirupati green hydrogen project was a major step towards industrial decarbonization and that the blending of green hydrogen with LNG offers industries an innovative pathway to reduce emissions.
Rockman Industries MD Ujjwal Munjal stated that the project underscores the company’s commitment to reducing carbon footprints and driving eco-friendly innovations in the automotive components industry.
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Secretary (Industries & Commerce) N. Yuvaraj and AP Economic Development Board CEO C.M. Saikanth Varma was among those present.
