A Quiet Place has proven to be a unique and popular horror franchise that has pushed the boundaries of what is expected from sound within a movie. The original film was released in 2018, but the series has only gone from strength to strength since that stage. With a main sequel and a 2024 prequel, A Quiet Place has grown to become a force to be reckoned with in the horror genre that people want to see more from.
A Quiet Place 3 was initially confirmed to be released in 2025, but the decision was made to switch gears as the prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, ended up being released instead. Considering that the movie went on to gross over $261 million worldwide, it is clear that there’s a desire for the trilogy to be wrapped up, and the latest news points to that happening.

A Quiet Place Is A Good Movie But Not A Good Franchise
A Quiet Place tells a genuinely scary and sad story in a post-apocalyptic world, but there are some problems with the horror franchise.
Franchise producer Brad Fuller spoke to The Direct at SXSW about the future of the franchise, which provided a positive outlook moving forward. He said, “So, Day One is not A Quiet Place 3, just to be clear. A Quiet Place 3, we’re starting to put it together right now. You know, when we made the first one, John [Krasinski] didn’t have a lot on his plate. He had just come off The Office, and he wanted to be a director. Now, he’s so in demand, and it’s hard to get him. He’s making a movie now, as soon as he finishes that, hopefully, he will to his attention to [A Quiet Place 3]. We all want to finish that trilogy, and I’m hopeful there’s even more Quiet Place movies beyond that.”
A Quiet Place: Part II grossed $297.4 million worldwide and had the biggest opening weekend during the pandemic. The movie continued the story of Emily Blunt’s character, Evelyn Abbott, and brought Cillian Murphy to the cast as Emmett. Their chemistry was excellent, and the film finished on a cliffhanger as Regan managed to learn how to kill the Death Angels, which had previously been seen as impossible.
That set up an easy premise for the third movie, which would involve the human race working together to kill all of the Death Angels in a bid to end the nightmare and bring life back to normality. This would make the third movie more action-packed than the two previous installments, which relied upon tension and sound to build up the scares. It would also be an ideal way to wrap up this franchise if the decision was made not to pursue any further Quiet Place films.
While it’s unclear when A Quiet Place 3 will be released at this stage, the fact that steps are being taken forward in the production is a positive sign. A lot appears to be riding on Krasinski’s availability, but considering his deep connection to the franchise, there’s no doubt he will want to create more content from this world. It’s obvious a story is in place for A Quiet Place 3, and now it is just a case of putting the rest of the pieces together moving forward to get the movie on the big screen for people to enjoy.
