Encanto is still waiting for its sequel, as despite its success, a new installment has yet to be officially announced by Disney. However, John Leguizamo has hinted that Encanto 2 may be closer to happening than fans might realize.

Leguizamo discussed the possible sequel in a new interview with People at the opening night for the Buena Vista Social Club. He shared how he’s just as eager as the fans to see Encanto get a sequel, though he has the advantage of knowing the decision makers. Leguizamo teased that he’s been personally badging the Encanto team about getting progress moving on a follow-up film, sharing a promising update on the movie finally happening.

“I’m also waiting for an Encanto 2 when all we do is talk about Bruno,” Leguizamo quipped, referring to “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the popular song featured in the film. “I’m calling them everyday saying ‘When is number two coming?’ They’re trying to come up with the storyline. They’re working on it.”
