Hulu gives fans their first look of the next period drama from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. The series is currently slated to premiere on February 21.
The first trailer for Knight’s upcoming A Thousand Blows was posted to the official Hulu YouTube channel on January 16. The series is set to explore the world of illegal boxing in Victorian London circa 1880. A Thousand Blows will introduce a sprawling crime drama, all while featuring real-life historical figures amongst its expansive cast of characters.

A Thousand Blows stars Malachi Kirby as Hezekiah Moscow and Francis Lovehall as Alec Munroe, two Jamaican immigrants who arrive in London only for the former to quickly find a foothold for himself in the underground bare-knuckle boxing scene. The pair quickly attract the attention of Erin Doherty’s Mary Carr, also known as the Queen of Forty Elephants, who exploits Hezekiah to her own gain. Hezekiah’s presence also attracts the attention of fan-favorite star Stephen Graham‘s Sugar Goodson, an old-school bare-knuckle brawler and self-appointed Emperor of the East End, who seeks to crush the newcomers under his heel.
A Thousand Blows Debuts in February
A Thousand Blows was written and executive produced by Knight himself, along with a host of others including Graham and Hannah Walters for Matriarch Productions, Damian Keogh and Kate Lewis for The Story Collective, and Director of Scripted Content Lee Mason for Disney+ EMEA. Apart from its long list of producers, A Thousand Blows also boasts an extensive list of featured actors including Jason Tobin, James Nelson-Joyce, Hannah Walters, Darci Shaw, Jemma Carlton, Caoilfhionn Dunne, Tom Davis, Susan Lynch, Nadia Albina, Morgan Hilaire, Daniel Mays, Adam Nagaitis, Gary Lewis, and Robert Glenister.

Knight is best known for creating and co-writing Peaky Blinders, which premiered in 2013, kicking off a whopping six-season run over the course of nine years. Peaky Blinders focused on the lives of fictionalized members of the very real Peaky Blinders gang who ran much of the West Midland’s criminal underworld from the 1880s to the 1920s. The series starred Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, the crime boss in charge of the Peaky Blinders who quickly rises through the ranks of the criminal underworld, establishing his own empire along the way. Currently, Peaky Blinders fans are eagerly anticipating the release of The Immortal Man, a feature film from director Tom Harper that is slated to serve as a replacement for the series’ seventh season.
A Thousand Blows is currently set to arrive on Hulu on February 21.
