Alamosa/Great Sand Dunes KOA Journey has received the 2024 KOA ICON Award, recognizing its exceptional performance in operational excellence and guest satisfaction. 

This prestigious honor places the campground among the top 10% of KOA locations across North America.

“We are very proud and humbled to have received the KOA Icon Award for 2024,” said Deb Hankinson, co-owner of the Alamosa/Great Sand Dunes KOA, as reported by South Fork Tines.

“It came as a complete surprise! This puts us in the top 10% of KOAs and is a reflection of our above-standard level of customer service to our campers. We can’t wait to continue this level of excellence in 2025,” Hankinson noted.

Replacing the long-standing President’s and Founder’s Awards, the new recognition focuses on measurable performance metrics, celebrating campgrounds that consistently deliver superior experiences for guests.

The KOA ICON Award recognizes campgrounds that excel in several key areas, including growth in camper nights, Net Promoter Scores (NPS), and engagement with KOA programs that promote brand excellence.

The KOA ICON Award is part of KOA’s broader initiative to highlight campgrounds that go beyond the standard in guest satisfaction and operational performance. KOA has also introduced a quarterly recognition program to honor campgrounds with top NPS scores and those showing year-over-year improvements.

Located at 6900 Juniper Lane in Alamosa, the Alamosa/Great Sand Dunes KOA Journey operates from March 1 to November 30 each year.
