You’re goddamn right Suits is back.

As its title implies, Suits LA transports the popular USA series from the Big Apple to Tinseltown, following a cast of legal eagles led by Stephen Amell‘s Ted Black, who has a connection to Suits‘ Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht, who will recur on the spinoff). Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, and Bryan Greenberg round out the main cast.

“While at some point we might do a Suits movie and that could be fun, for the most part, I finished telling the story of those characters,” creator Aaron Korsh told Entertainment Weekly for our December cover story. “But I wasn’t able to finish saying what I wanted to say about the Suits universe, so this is meeting a whole new group of characters and exploring their dynamics and their passions and their fears and their hopes and their dreams. It’s fun going back to the beginning of something again.”

He continued, “The original Suits was a dual lead show with Harvey and Mike, and this is a single lead with an ensemble.”

With that in mind, let’s meet that ensemble of fast-talking, back-stabbing Angelenos. Read on for EW’s Suits LA cast and character guide.

Stephen Amell as Ted Black

Amell is best known for his physicality, having starred as superhero Oliver Queen (a.k.a. Green Arrow) on the CW’s Arrow (2012–2020) and professional wrestler Jack Spade on Starz’s Heels (2021–2023). He also fought alongside the heroes in a half-shell as Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016). As Suits LA‘s Ted Black, though, Amell will need to rely on his verbal wordplay rather than his physical prowess.

Ted is a former federal prosecutor who moved from New York City to LA to kick off his career as an entertainment lawyer representing A-list talent. When the show begins, his firm is at a breaking point. “He is struggling as a leader,” Amell told EW. “Sometimes he can get so driven and so focused on what’s in front of him or the next battle to win that he loses sight of his relationships with the people closest to him, and that’s what really manifests in the pilot.”

He’s also nursing some dark secrets. “Ted Black has a past — something happened that made him move out to LA and become an entertainment lawyer,” Korsh told EW, noting that the first season will contain several flashbacks revealing what life was like for Ted before heading west.

Josh McDermitt as Stuart Lane

McDermitt is probably best known for his role (and mullet) on The Walking Dead, (2014–2022), in which he played engineer Eugene for eight seasons. His career began, however, on the reality competition series Last Comic Standing, where his jokes propelled him to the semi-finals. He also appeared on Mad Men, Twin Peaks: The Return, and Shudder’s Creepshow anthology.

McDermitt plays Stuart Lane, Ted’s best friend and co-founder of the Black Lane firm. “They’re really more like brothers,” McDermitt said of the pair’s relationship. Amell, meanwhile, hinted that their bond will be one of the focuses of the first season. “Ted doesn’t think that there’s anything wrong with their relationship at all — I think Stuart might disagree,” Amell teases.

Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins

In 2016, Lex Scott Davis unbroke our hearts as R&B icon Toni Braxton in Lifetime’s TV movie about the singer. Since then, she starred in CBS’s Training Day series and Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q while appearing in films like Superfly (2018), The First Purge (2018), and Ricky Stanicky (2024).

As one of Ted and Stuart’s protégés, Erica Rollins is set on becoming the firm’s head of entertainment. Speaking with EW, Davis described her character as “brilliant, savvy, witty, and loyal.” She added, “Erica is fighting for the things that she deserves in this male-dominated space — she’s playing hardball with the guys, for sure.”

Davis is also open to Erica enjoying a bit of romance in the series. “It’s possible to see something romantic with Erica and just about everybody in this show — she’s just that person,” she told us. “I asked our creator, Aaron, and he’s like, ‘I don’t know. We’re all going to find out together.'”

Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodsen

Greenberg began his career in a national Cookie Crisp commercial, though you probably know him as One Tree Hills Jake Jagielski (2003–2006) or Ben on The Mindy Project (2016–2017). In 2024, he starred in Junction, a thriller he also wrote and directed.

Like Erica, Greenberg’s Rick Dodsen is angling to be the firm’s head of entertainment. This puts the two at odds with each other, resulting in a rivalry that Greenberg told EW is “juicy, combative, and playful.” He also described Rick as “the moral compass of the show,” and that the character is trying “to keep his integrity in a town of snakes, and his morality in the most immoral business.” But he’s not wholly concerned with himself. “[Rick is] fighting for Ted’s soul as well — because he could go either way.”

Amell said of Rick, “Ted’s very much looking to win at all costs, and Rick is looking to win, but maybe not at all costs. That comes back to bite [Ted], in the case of Rick.”

Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter

After guesting on various beloved series (Beverly Hills 90210, Sex and the City, Spin City) and appearing in several films (The Object of My Affection, Behind Enemy Lines, The Recruit), Macht nabbed the role of Harvey Specter on Suits.

He led all nine seasons of the series, then took a break from acting to focus on his family (and brand partnerships). “I wanted to put my focus on some of this other stuff,” Macht recently told EW. “Let’s see how this entrepreneurship thing goes and how I can be creative and collaborate with others in a different way that doesn’t take me away from the kids.”

He was hesitant to return to the Suits universe. “I finished up on Suits and felt like we spent enough time with Harvey: nine years, 134 episodes,” Macht told EW. “We really created such a well-rounded character, and the ensemble was terrific. Look, I am so appreciative and blessed to have been a part of this show, and it’s created a lot of opportunities for me. And when I say goodbye, I was really burying the character in many, many ways, metaphorically for myself.”

He later signed up for a recurring role on Suits LA after a bit of cajoling by Korsh. Eventually, Macht decided he’d like to “help and pass the metaphorical baton over to Stephen and the rest of the cast.” He added, “Really, it’s my way of going in there and really supporting this new venture — that’s why I said okay.”

In the new series, we learn Harvey and Ted have a past together that informs the issues impacting Ted’s firm in the present. “This guy, Ted, is in a bind,” Macht says. “There seem to be elements of Ted that are very similar to Harvey. And there is some self-referential wordplay that resembles some old patterns that are really playful and watchable. I think that there’s a great dynamic between these guys and there’s a strong, strong love for each other that is nice to see, two guys that have each other’s backs.”

Victoria Justice as Dylan Pryor

A Nickelodeon veteran, Victoria Justice helped lead two of the network’s most popular shows of the aughts, Zoey 101 (2005–2008) and Victorious (2010–2013). Since then, she’s appeared in Netflix films A Perfect Pairing (2022) and Afterlife of the Party (2021), as well as series like MTV’s Eye Candy and Quibi’s 50 States of Fright.

Justice’s Dylan Pryor is a movie star unimpressed with what Ted and his firm have to offer. “I need someone with confidence,” she says in the Suits LA trailer. “You seem a little sheepish to me.”

Alice Lee as Leah

Alice Lee is best known for playing lawyer Emily Kang on NBC’s musical comedy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (2020–2021), though she’s appeared in a variety of films (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Brittany Runs a Marathon) and TV series (The Mindy Project, 2 Broke Girls). She also voices Lois Lane on Adult Swim’s My Adventures With Superman.

According to TVLine, Lee plays “a young associate attorney at Black Lane Law who has been assigned to work with (or, as it turns out, for) entertainment attorney Erica Rollins.” Perhaps she also wants to be head of entertainment?

Troy Winbush’s career dates back to the late ’80s, when he recurred as Denny, a pal of Theo Huxtable, on The Cosby Show (1987–1991). He’s appeared on dozens of popular shows since then, including recurring roles on Scandal (2012–2014), The Goldbergs (2013–2022), and Chicago Fire (2022).

Winbush plays a former FBI agent and old friend of Ted’s who now works as a private detective, according to Variety. In the trailer, he remarks on a photo of Suits‘ Harvey Specter while chatting with Ted. “I never liked him,” he says. “The only person I knew cockier than you.’

Azita Ghanizada as Roslyn

Azita Ghanizada previously starred in the Syfy superhero series Alphas (2011–2012) and the CBS sitcom United States of Al (2021–2022). Her lengthy resume also includes guest spots on The Mentalist (2013), 9-1-1 (2018), and Elementary (2018), as well as a leading role in the Broadway musical adaptation of Khaled Hosseini’s 2003 novel The Kite Runner.

According to Deadline, Ghanizada’s Roslyn is “Ted’s loyal and straight-shooting secretary” who “serves as a steady hand and sounding board as Ted navigates a new set of professional circumstances.”
