For those looking to celebrate Black History Month, here are some events in San Antonio that are open to the public.
Black History River Tour
When: 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 1
Where: San Antonio RiverWalk
This year, the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum will be hosting cruises through the San Antonio RiverWalk. Each cruise will last 1 hour 40 minutes and will start at La Villita. Tickets can be bought for $40 here.
San Antonio Black History Tours
When: 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20
Where: Online
San Antonio Black History Tours offer visitors a free immersive tour through iconic landmarks, influential neighborhoods and cultural sites that shaped the fight for equality, justice and civil rights in San Antonio.

KOA Black History Appreciation Weekend
When: Feb. 21-23
Where: 602 Gembler Road
San Antonio KOA will be hosting a Black history appreciation weekend at its campgrounds and accepting donations to Care Camps, which offers camping experiences for children battling cancer.
Friday’s events include karaoke, a spiked cider and hot cocoa bar and bingo. Saturday’s events include ice cream-making, a game of red light/green light, a s’mores bar and a fire pit. Sunday’s events include a movie and popcorn. Activities are subject to change. More info can be found here.

Art Market at La Villita
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22
Where: 218 S. Presa St. at La Villita
The San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum will host its second Black History Month Art Market. The theme is “African Americans and Labor.” More information can be found here.
San Antonio African American Book Festival
When: Saturday, Feb. 22, Noon to 5 p.m.
Where: Second Baptist Community Center, 3310 E. Commerce St.
This free event celebrates African culture through literature, food and festivities. The event was created to showcase the power of black literature and reinforce the fact that representation matters. Learn more about this event here.
Carver Youth Matinee: Dallas Black Dance Theatre
When: Feb. 28, 11 a.m. to noon
Where: 226 N. Hackberry St.
This free event features an interactive performance that celebrates Black history and contemporary dance. Open to all ages, participants can learn all about different dance techniques, the history behind them and will have the chance to ask professionals questions. Learn more about this event here.
