Bramblebeck Holiday Park in Thurstonfield has submitted plans to expand its operations with 28 additional caravan pitches.

If approved, the development will bring the total number of pitches at the park to 70, furthering its capacity to accommodate visitors in the growing outdoor hospitality sector.

The proposal, submitted by WS Planning on behalf of Bramblebeck Holiday Park, includes provisions for parking spaces, infrastructure improvements, and a connection to the existing sewage treatment plant.

According to a report by News & Star, the 1.9-hectare site will use the current access route from the B5307, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

A design and access statement supporting the application highlights the development’s alignment with sustainability goals.

“The proposed development performs a positive economic, social, and environmental role and comprises sustainable development in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 8 of the Framework,” the statement reads.

It further emphasizes that the proposal aligns with local planning policies and does not pose any significant adverse effects.

The expansion is expected to generate employment opportunities, with plans for three full-time positions to support park operations.

This aligns with broader industry trends, where demand for high-quality holiday accommodations continues to grow, prompting parks to enhance their offerings to attract long-term visitors and holiday homeowners.

Bramblebeck Holiday Park, operated by the Swainson family, has been part of the local landscape since 1990. The family also runs Moor Park Farm, managing 247 acres of farmland and a dairy operation.

The park’s management team, Phill and Mark Burton, bring over 30 years of combined industry experience, ensuring that the site is operated with a focus on personalized service and customer satisfaction.

The application was submitted to Cumberland Council on February 6 and is currently awaiting a decision.

If approved, the expansion could provide a valuable boost to the local tourism economy while offering additional capacity for holidaymakers seeking countryside retreats.
