Brenda Song is a lifelong Home Alone fan — but she has no interest in knowing how the movie sausage gets made.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody alum discussed revisiting the Christmas classic with her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin, during an interview with The Jennifer Hudson Show. “When we started dating almost eight years ago now, Christmastime came around and I was like, ‘It’s a tradition! I always watch Home Alone every Christmas,'” Song recalled.
Her beau, who starred in the 1990 film and its 1992 sequel, wasn’t as enthusiastic at the time. “He hadn’t seen the movie in like a decade, and I forced him — he didn’t wanna watch it,” she said of Culkin. “I was like, ‘We have to.'”
The tables turned, however, when Culkin began reminiscing about the production of the film. “We started watching it, and he started telling me all the behind-the-scenes stories,” Song recalled. “And I was like, ‘Stop! Stop! You’re ruining it for me! You’re ruining it!'”
Song said she still understands Home Alone‘s cultural value, but doesn’t quite have the same affection for it that she used to. “The movie holds such a special place in so many people’s hearts,” she said. “It’s just, it’s hard for me now, that’s all.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Song discussed how Culkin’s massive child stardom affected him as an adult. “I always say Mac is a very unique human, being the most famous child actor in the world,” she said. “He lived and grew up in hotels. He had just never really done laundry, and I was shooketh. I have been doing laundry since I was a baby, I feel like. I’ve been doing laundry since I was, like, 10, whatever it is, you know, helping my mom.”

Song said that there’s an even bigger skill that Culkin never picked up. “He still doesn’t know how to drive,” she said. “I took him out to drive in our neighborhood — I was terrified, let me tell you. This 44-year-old man driving for the first time? I was like, ‘Nope! I gotta hire someone to do that.'”
The actress also said that Culkin had to convince her to pose for their joint Cosmopolitan cover shoot. “I was actually really nervous and he actually had to talk me into it,” Song said. “Mac’s famous quote is, ‘Let’s do it for the mantle.’ For our kids, we put all of the accolades on our mantle, and he wants to remind our kids and we want to remind our kids that no matter what, mama and papa are still doing their thing.”
