The Camp Verde Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Feb. 13 to consider a request from Bryson Ranch to allow extended RV stays at Arena del Loma.
The proposal seeks to modify the current 10-day limit and permit longer stays for guests using the equestrian facility at 1738 Arena del Loma Road.
Don and Tanner Bryson, who operate the facility, submitted an application in October to allow the permanent use of RV hookups.
The request is intended to accommodate visitors who prefer to stay close to their horses while attending events or participating in training programs at the site.
Tanner Bryson, in a letter to the commission, emphasized that the change would support seasonal visitors, including those seeking horse and roping instruction. He also noted that allowing longer stays could improve safety by enabling caretakers to remain on-site in RVs.
“I would propose that we bring this arena under a use permit that will allow for longer stays of guests, which may include winter visitors who come to our town, seeking horse and roping instruction as well as activities for the seasonal roping schedule,” Bryson noted, as reported by Verde News.
In addition to enhancing visitor convenience, the proposal aims to reduce traffic in and out of the property by eliminating frequent RV turnover.
Town staff reported that there are currently nine active permits for RV parks in Camp Verde, and Bryson stated that it is common for equestrian arenas to offer long-term RV accommodations.
The request follows a history of disputes over the property, which has seen conflicts between the Brysons and some neighbors. To address concerns, a community meeting was held at the arena in January.
Seven neighbors and three town employees, including the town marshal, attended. Some residents have raised complaints of past confrontations unrelated to the RV proposal.
The Planning & Zoning Commission will review the application and consider public input before making a recommendation.
