Aston Villa will play Paris St-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals, with Arsenal up against holders Real Madrid.

PSG beat Liverpool in the last 16, the only English team to go out of any of the competitions at that stage this season.

Manchester City, who lost to Real in the round before that, are the only other Premier League side to be knocked out of Europe this season.

Manchester United will face French side Lyon in the Europa League quarters after Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick in their 4-1 (5-2 aggregate) win over Real Sociedad.

Boss Ruben Amorim said: “We have a lot of games in the Premier League [before then]. In my head we are going to use every minute to improve the team.

“Against Lyon it will be a different game, the physicality is there.

“They play in a league which is so physical. It doesn’t have the same quality, but it is going to be a different game.”

Tottenham, who overcame AZ Alkmaar 3-2 on aggregate, will play Eintracht Frankfurt.

“The next stage is what we set out to do at the start of the two legs,” said goalscorer James Maddison.

“There was a lot of talk after last week’s performance [a 1-0 loss away], we were honest with ourselves it wasn’t good enough.

“I know what we’re capable of here and we got the job done. We haven’t achieved anything yet, we’re in the quarter-final and we kick on and we look forward to it.”

Rangers, who beat Fenerbahce on penalties, play Athletic Bilbao next.

And in the Conference League, Chelsea – who knocked out Copenhagen – will play Polish side Legia Warsaw.
