Cazzu’s “Con Otra” has topped Billboard’s latest new Latin music poll published on Friday, March 21. In support of the weekly New Music Latin roundup and playlist, curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors, music fans voted for the Argentine artist’s new track as their favorite music release of the week.
The unapologetic cumbia, which follows her singles “La Cueva” and “Dolce,” generated more than 50% of the vote, beating out other new releases last week including Jay Wheeler’s Girasoles, Danny Ocean and Sech’s “Priti,” and Los Ángeles Azules and Kenia Os’ “Una Nada Más,” to name a few.
Coming in at a close second was Sebastian Yatra’s “La Pelirroja,” with just over 41% of the vote.
Produced by Nico Cotton and co-written by Cotton and Cazzu (real name Julieta Cazzucheli), “Con Otra” is a heartbreak song dedicated to her ex’s new partner: “I don’t wish you any harm/ But he’s going to cheat on you with someone else,” she sings in the chorus that’s quickly going viral on social media. In the music video, the Argentine artist is getting ready to go to a concert with friends, where another artist is interpreting the song.
“I recorded my first song 16 years ago, and it was a Selena song. I learned music through cumbia, and today it gives me all this LOVE!” she said in an Instagram post on March 22. “Thank you for enjoying these songs, which I write from the bottom of my cumbia heart!”
