After scoring a SAG award for his performance as Oswald “Oz” Cobb in HBO’s The Penguin, Colin Farrell addressed whether he wants to return for a second season and the answer might come as quite the disappointment for fans of the show.

Speaking with Variety at the SAG Awards, where Farrell won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series, the actor addressed whether he wants to return for The Penguin Season 2 if it were given the green light. While he stipulates that if given the right story he would consider returning, the actor made it clear that he isn’t interested in pursuing a second season just because the first season was a massive success.

‘I’m Very Excited’: Robert Pattinson Shares The Batman Part II Update

Robert Pattinson knows something fans don’t about The Batman Part II.

I don’t want it. I don’t not want it,” Farrell said. “We all left it in the ring in those eight hours. I would hate to, just because of a quote-unquote success, have to go again and for it to be a diluted version of what people seem to feel it is, majoritively. So I’m in no rush. I have no deep desire to do it. … Sure, if they think of something that works in conjunction as a parallel to Matt Reeves’ cinematic universe and it’s a good idea, I’m open it. But it’s not something concerning me.”

Farrell has been vocal in the past about how stressful the transformation into Oz Cobb was for Season 1 as applying the makeup and prosthetics was an hours-long process each day. With the acclaimed star set to reprise his role as Oz Cobb in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II, which will reportedly begin production near the end of summer, it appears for now that Farrell doesn’t want to spend any more time under all that makeup and prosthetics than he needs to.

DC Studios Recently Provided an Update on The Penguin Season Two

While Farrell appears unconvinced that doing another season of the hit HBO series is necessary, it appears DC Studios may have the same reservations as the acclaimed actor. In a recent interview with Variety, DC Studios co-chiefs Peter Safran and James Gunn confirmed that they were unsure with how to proceed with the series. “We don’t know,” Safran said. “There are a lot of moving pieces — probably most important Colin himself.” And 800 pounds of makeup,” Gunn added. Well, it appears Farrell would need a lot of convincing to do another season as the future of the series now seems even more uncertain.
