It was important for me to come out today because it seems to me that this administration is continuing to suppress rights of its citizens, its citizens of color, its L.G.B.T.Q. citizens, women and pretty much anybody who disagrees with their policies. There are more people in the district than there are in some of the Western states. These people have always been underrepresented, and they have a right to be treated like every other American citizen to have a voice. And unfortunately, the government right now, both Congress and the Trump administration, can hurt them by taking away funding, which is so important.
