Delhi Nursery Admission 2025: Key Dates

  • January 17, 2025: Schools will release the first list of selected candidates and the waiting list, based on a point system.
  • January 18 to 27, 2025: Parents can resolve any questions or concerns about the points given to their children through written, email, or verbal communication.
  • February 3, 2025: Schools will release the second list of selected candidates (if any), including the waiting list and the points allotted.
  • February 5 to 11, 2025: Parents can raise any questions about the points for their children in the second list.
  • February 26, 2025: The second list of qualified candidates will be released, if applicable.

In private schools, 25% of seats are reserved for students from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and children with disabilities, with a separate admission process for these seats. Delhi’s Directorate of Education (DoE) has warned that asking parents for donations is a punishable offence, with schools facing penalties up to ten times the amount of donations received.

The DoE also said that schools must follow a single admission process for both pre-school and main school classes, as they are considered part of the same institution.

The selection process follows a point system where different criteria are assigned specific scores. The highest priority is neighbourhood proximity, highlighting the importance of geographical location in admissions. Additional criteria include having siblings already enrolled or alumni connections. Some schools may also consider factors like being a firstborn, a girl child, or having a single parent.

However, parental qualifications, occupation, and financial status are deliberately excluded from the selection process. Schools can set and allocate points to each criterion as they see fit. Certain institutions also have special provisions for specific groups, such as Sikh and Christian minorities or economically disadvantaged families.
