Plans have been submitted for the development of eight holiday lodges at Diamond Caravan Park in Bletchingdon, Oxfordshire. The proposal, presented by Robin Investments Limited, suggests replacing 13 existing touring caravan pitches with the new lodges.
The application has been lodged with Cherwell District Council, but as of now, no formal comments—either in support or opposition—have been made.
According to the planning report submitted with the application, the proposed change aims to enhance the park’s offerings in response to growing demand for high-quality self-catering accommodation, a trend that has become particularly prominent post-COVID.
The report also highlights the environmental benefits of the project. It notes that the lodges will be integrated into the existing site without expanding onto any new land.
Areas currently occupied by hardstanding will be restored to grass and landscaped to improve the park’s overall appearance and functionality.
The applicant also anticipates that the new lodges will attract more visitors during the off-season, thereby increasing the park’s revenue.
According to a report by Oxford Mail, this additional income would support further environmental upgrades and improvements, helping to sustain the park’s operations and contribute to the local rural tourism economy.
Diamond Caravan Park, a family-friendly site open year-round, offers both caravan and camping facilities.
It is located five miles north of Oxford, eight miles south of Bicester, and a 30-minute drive from Banbury, on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds. Nearby attractions include Oxford, Henley, Blenheim Palace, Windsor, and Legoland.
The park provides a range of amenities including hardstanding and grass pitches, all equipped with 16A electric hookups. There is also a separate tent field with many pitches featuring electric hookups.
Facilities include a modern toilet and shower blocks with solar-assisted heated water, a family bathroom with baby changing facilities, privacy cubicles, and laundry services. Additionally, the site offers free Wi-Fi for guests.
