Attendees at the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards must’ve done a double take, because the event hosted an adorable meeting between RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16 star Plasma and her Snatch Game celebrity, Patti LuPone.
After portraying the Broadway legend and Agatha All Along actress on the Emmy-winning reality competition series’ fan-favorite impersonation challenge, Plasma (who also made an impression while channeling Barbra Streisand during another season 16 bit) shared photos and video Friday showing off her adorable first meeting with LuPone at the previous night’s awards event in Los Angeles.
“I knelt down to her and said, ‘So I did an impression of you on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and she cut me off by standing up and almost shouting ‘Oh my God! It’s you! It’s you!'” Plasma exclusively tells Entertainment Weekly of the moment. “So, naturally, my heart was bursting from that moment onward. She looked me square in the face and told me my makeup was gorgeous, we talked about the hell of Times Square and tech rehearsal, and she briefly quoted ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ in response to my Snatch Game performance.”
Plasma continues: “And just before we parted ways, I told her, ‘Oh, and please tell Bernadette [Peters] I’m sorry for stealing her wig.’ That got a big laugh. Meet your heroes, kids. Mine knew who I was and made me feel in that hurried moment as if we were the only two people on Earth. And Patti, if you’re reading this, let’s get a bagel when we’re both back in NYC!”
Earlier, Plasma shared a photo of herself embracing LuPone at the event, and another of the pair posing for a quick shot near the RuPaul’s Drag Race cast’s table.

LuPone took the stage at Thursday night’s ceremony, where she comically recited iconic lines from past RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants — including Aja and Bianca Del Rio, among others.
Other Drag Race season 16 cast members, including Sapphira Cristál, Plane Jane, Mirage, Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige, Morphine Love Dion, and Xunami Muse, who was eliminated on the Snatch Game episode, were also in attendance on behalf of the show, which won Outstanding Reality Competition Program at the awards ceremony.
In other Drag Race news, season 17 queen Lana Ja’Rae recently told EW that Plasma was her first drag mother before she was adopted by season 15 finalist Luxx Noir London.
“I moved out of my house to pursue drag because my family didn’t accept it at the time. I did drag in Oklahoma, and my brother convinced me to do a pageant at the University of Oklahoma called STI. Through that I met Plasma,” Lana told EW in her exit interview. “She was my mentor through the pageant and became my drag mother. She gave me a gown I wore in the pageant, and after that she moved to New York City. We didn’t have time for each other that much anymore, but we’re still friends and I love her. I carry some of the qualities that she gave me!”
