Doey Commercial And The Death Of Jack

Introduction Video – Plays Automatically

The Doey the Doughman Commercial is a 90s-style found footage video that plays at the beginning of Chapter 4. It’s an advertisement for a Dough man toy called Doey made by Playtime Co.

It is followed by a home video of a young boy named Jack receiving Doey and a tour of the Playtime Factory. It then cuts to security footage of that same boy accidently falling into a vat at the factory. There is screaming and shouting before the camera cuts, and the action then picks back up where Chapter 3 left off.

Flare Hand Safety Video

Office Checkpoint 1A

The Flare Hand Safety Video is a tape that can be found as the player heads through the hallways of the offices in the caves underneath Playcare on the way to the prison doors. It is next to the yellow door with the rope wrapped around it.

It is in the style of the guide tapes seen in previous chapters and gives a refresher on how to use the flare gun attachment for the grab pack. The video also reiterates that some objects are flammable, including the rope that holds the yellow door shut.

16

Break Time

Locked Office At Cell Transport Checkpoint

The Break Time tape can be found in the locked guard room near the cell transportation station. This door needs to be unlocked in order for players to progress, so the tape is hard to miss.

The video features two guards named Cole and Norm attempting to take a break and discussing the different security levels of their respective jobs. One talks about the terrible things that they hear in the factory, and players get a glimpse into what was happening in the prison.

15

Warden’s Office 8/8/1995

Warden’s Office In Prison

The Warden’s Office tape can be found in the warden’s office behind the security desk in the prison. The office is accessible by placing the correct disk onto a shield above the door. Both the tape and the tape player are in this room.

The Warden is talking to the Doctor during “The Hour of Joy.” The Warden is panicked, and the Doctor offers to get him out of the factory if he gives him the Omni-Hand, which allows the Doctor unfettered access to the facility. After some convincing, the Warden concedes.

14

The Doctor

Server Room Just Outside The Vents From Yarnaby’s Cell

The gray tape marked “The Doctor” can be found in the server room as the player exits the vents. Yarnaby is stalking this area, but it is pretty well concealed from his field of vision. The tape features a conversation between Leith Pierre, Stella Geyber, and Eddie Ritterman about Doctor Sawyer.

Poppy Playtime: 10 Scariest Mascots, Ranked

Poppy Playtime is home to a selection of terrifying entities, but these particular mascots are easily the scariest of the bunch.

Their concern is that he has become a liability, but they cannot fire him because he is the only one who knows how to run the bespoke tech for the Bigger Bodies Initiative. Ritterman begins to imply that there is a way to get the Doctor out of a position of power in the factory but still have his brain at their disposal.

Stella Greyber Project Audit

In The File Room Near Pianosaurus Cut Out

The Stella Greyber Project Audit VHS tape can be found on a shelf in the main file room, and the green player can be found in an office nearby. Players should turn right at the Pianosaurus cut out and head towards the yellow door; the tape is on a metal shelf to the right.

On this tape, Stella Greyber discusses her conflicted feelings about the experiments with Leith Pierre. While she expresses horror at the means by which the experiments are occurring, she cites a higher purpose for the experiments that will help people in the future.

12

’93 Theater Incident

Offices Near The Interrogation Rooms

The ’93 Theater Incident VHS tape is in the offices next to the observation/interrogation cells. It’s accessible by moving boxes and climbing through holes in the wall. Players should check every room in this area, as it is a bit of a maze. The tape and the player are also in separate rooms.

This tape is a recording of the efforts to clean up after the ’93 theater incident that killed over 70 guests and researchers at the factory. There are discussions of a cover-up and an investigator who is trying to uncover the truth. All the workers seem to agree that one person is likely responsible. From what players know so far, this refers to Doctor Sawyer.

11

Ollie

Right Before Safe Haven

The Ollie VHS tape is in the showers in the outer hallway of the shower block at Safe Haven as the player enters with Poppy and Kissy Missy. It is very easy to miss, and the tape player is in a room on the other side of Safe Haven, through the infirmary.

This tape features a discussion between Poppy and Ollie in which Ollie tries to relate to Poppy, who is beside herself in pain and distress. It establishes that Ollie wants Poppy to trust him and that the procedures that were conducted on her were extremely invasive and painful.

10

Construction Plans: The Shelf

Infirmary At Safe Haven

The orange Construction Plans tape can be found in the infirmary under a hospital bed. The torch attachment is helpful when looking for this one. The tape player is on the other side of the infirmary aisle.

9 Interesting Poppy Playtime Theories

Following the launch of Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, players are taking to the web and creating some fascinating fan theories about the game’s story.

This tape contains a conversation between Warrenbach, a contractor, and Eddie Ritterman. The contractor, who has been blindly undertaking suspicious construction jobs for the factory, has become concerned with his most recent contract with Playtime Co. He questions Ritterman about the construction of the prison, who threatens him and reminds him of his contractual obligations.

1322 Report: Kevin

Dough Production Room

The green 1322 Report VHS tape can be found on a shelf on the right side of the dough production room (as the player enters). The tape player is to the left of the control desk. There is no time pressure in this room, so players have time to poke around a bit.

On this tape are the observational notes by a researcher about a child named Kevin. Kevin is being considered for integration with Doey, but the researcher is expressing concerns regarding his behavioral instability.

8

Security Feed: 02.01.01

Just After Transportation Tubes

After fighting Yarnaby, the player takes a transportation tube up to the next floor. The next tape is in a box next to the transportation tubes, and the VHS tape recorder is in the same room. This appears to be a security tape in which Hoppy returns from a journey out of Safe Haven for food.

He has been badly bitten while out of Safe Haven, and Doey tries to cover his concern with reassurances that he will be okay. This tape showcases how the survivors of Safe Haven worked together under Doey’s strong leadership.

7

Experiment 1354

In The Rooms In The Red Smoke

The Experiment 1354 VHS tape can be found in one of the few smoke-free areas in the operating rooms. In the first room is a gas mask that can be used to mitigate the effect of the smoke while traveling around the smoke-filled hallways to find clues for the anatomy puzzle. In another safe room, there is a tape being held by an elephant toy, and in yet another operating room is the tape player.

On this tape is the aftermath of the procedure that turned Dr. Sawyer into Experiment 1354. He furiously asks Dr. White who gave the order to experiment on him, and Leith Pierre reveals that it was him.

6

Time

After The Doctor Boss Fight

Before moving on to find the Omni-Hand upgrade to fix the generator at Safe Haven, players should enter the door just off where the Doctor was defeated. There is the VHS player on a desk to the left, and the tape is on a desk to the right. These are incredibly easy to find.

Horror Games To Play If You Like Poppy Playtime

Poppy Playtime chapter 2 has arrived but doesn’t last long enough for fans, who might need to turn to other survival horror games for more.

This tape features a conversation between the doctor and the Prototype. The doctor is requesting more time, and the Prototype is not happy about it. What he needs time for is not explained and will likely be a key part of Chapter 5.

Management: Rich

On Either Side Of The Shipping Cage Near Safe Haven

As the player enters the shipping room near Safe Haven, there will be a bright green version of Hoppy just bobbing about doing its own thing. Right next to it is the tape player. To get the tape, players can use the purple hand to jump the nearby fence and follow it around. The purple tape is on a shelf there.

This tape contains important character development and exposition for familiar Playtime Co. employee, Rich. Rich has gone from troubled worker to mentor who is looking out for his own troubled employees. He is talking to someone he just refers to as “kid” and reassures him that he has his back.

4

1322 Report: Jack

Near The Gas Tanks

The 1322 Report tape is in the room with the gas tanks that need to be exploded, and the tape player is in the office above the tanks. In this tape, Jack’s parents come to Playcare after being informed that there is a way to have their son back.

What they are confronted with is a distraught and disorientated Doey. Jack’s mother is willing and indeed grateful to have their son back in any form, but the father is not so sure. This culminates in Doey/Jack panicking and attacking them.

3

Untitled Tape

Mid-Doughy Chase

The Untitled Tape is possibly the most lore-significant one in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4. It is also the easiest to miss, being in a hidden recess that the player runs past during the Doey boss fight. It is a journal recording of Poppy on her own. She is reflecting on the horrible things that have happened, perhaps during “The Hour of Joy.”

Poppy also cries that she misses her dad and that things were different when he ran the company, possibly confirming a popular fan theory. This tape features serious lore implications and confirms that Poppy is the daughter of someone who ran Playcare. This would likely be Elliot Ludwig.

2

A Reminder

During The Search For Survivors

This tape has a bittersweet recording of Doey that players can find in a side room after his boss fight. All one must do is go through the hand-activated doors and head for the office to the right of the main storeroom.

It is Doey reminding himself the reason that he doesn’t just leave is that he feels he has a duty to care for the other toys. He talks about how much he cares about them, allowing his beautiful personality to shine through and present him as a caring and responsible individual.

1

Top Secret

Final Room Of The Chapter And Impossible To Miss

The Top Secret VHS tape triggers the end of Chapter 4. It can be found after The Prototype attacks Kissy Missy and the player in the vents, resulting in the player dropping through the floor. From there, the player will inevitably come to the final room, where the tape and tape player are waiting.

This is a cheeky tape in which Leith Pierre pretends that everything is okay and that whoever has played the tape is just lost. Then, he descends into a sinister laugh and informs the listener that they will be shot on sight.
