Ellen Lloyd – AncientPages.com – Recently, Ancient Pages reported the discovery of a remarkable ancient gold torc in Trollhättan, Sweden. This artifact, estimated to be around 2,000 years old, initially appeared to be an extraordinary find.

However, there are now concerns about its authenticity. Experts at the Västra Götaland County Administrative Board may have prematurely declared it a significant discovery. Speculation suggests that the neck ring might have been part of an elaborate prank. To determine its authenticity, the torc will undergo chemical analysis.

Niklas Ytterberg, an antiquarian on the board, expressed disappointment at the possibility of it being a fake. He says there is no reason to believe the find is not genuine.

“We have conducted our own assessment and consulted with experts on Iron Age gold objects,” Ytterberg stated. The upcoming chemical analysis is expected to address claims of fraud by confirming whether it is indeed genuine or not. The individual who discovered the object has yet to respond to media inquiries regarding this matter.
