Farndon Marina, a long-established marina on the River Trent in Nottinghamshire, has been listed for sale by Christie & Co.
Owned by the same family since 1966, the 25-acre site near Newark offers potential for further development, including the addition of holiday park facilities.
Currently operated by Paul and Janet Ainsworth, the marina has over 300 private berths and moorings, with revenue streams including berthing fees, chandlery sales, boat sales brokerage, and marine services such as repair and maintenance.
The couple, who have managed the business since the passing of Paul’s father, Mark Ainsworth, are looking to retire.
“Since my father passed away over 16 years ago, Janet and I have continued as custodians of this incredible business,” said Paul Ainsworth.
“We have consistently invested in improving the facilities and customer experience and have a fantastic team, who are and will continue to be great assets to the marina.”

According to Jon Patrick, head of leisure and development at Christie & Co, demand for marina and boating businesses has grown significantly in the past two years, driven by UK and European operators, marine enthusiasts, and investors.
“We’ve also seen greater activity in the sector from owners of holiday parks and associated leisure hospitality businesses which share a number of similarities with marinas in terms of the underlying business model,” Patrick said in a report by Insider Media.
