Quentin Tarantino fans are in for a treat next month when his wildly entertaining martial arts action two-parter hits Hulu. Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 will arrive on the platform on February 1.
Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, the iconic Kill Bill stars Uma Thurman as Beatrix “the Bride” Kiddo, a former Deadly Viper assassination squad member codename Black Mamba who swears revenge on her former teammates and their leader, Bill. The group viciously slaughtered everyone at her wedding rehearsal as reprisal for her exit, leaving the pregnant Bride for dead. David Carradine plays Bill, codename Snake Charmer, Beatrix’s former lover, and father of her unborn child. Kill Bill‘s ensemble includes Lucy Liu as O-Ren Ishii (Cottonmouth), Vivica A Fox as Vernita Green (Copperhead), Daryl Hannah as Elle Driver (California Mountain Snake), and Michael Madsen as Budd (Sidewinder).

Inspired by exploitation films and martial arts movies of the 1970s, Tarantino and Thurman apparently came up with the idea for the latter’s character while they were filming the director’s 1994 classic, Pulp Fiction. The Kill Bill films also have anime influences, even featuring an anime sequence by the renowned Production I.G. Made in a single production and initially intended for a single release, Kill Bill became a two-parter because of its four-hour runtime. Volume 1 premiered on October 10, 2003, while Volume 2 arrived six months later.
Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2 debuted to critical acclaim and financial success. The first volume grossed $180.9 million, and the second made $152 million against a $30 million budget. Thurman received a Golden Globe Best Actress nomination and a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role nomination, in addition to four other BAFTA nominations for the films.

Quentin Tarantino Fans Have a Lot To Enjoy Even Sooner
Even before February rolls around, Lionsgate will release 4K UHD versions of Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2, Jackie Brown, and the re-printed release of Taratino’s first feature film, Reservoir Dogs, with all three getting limited edition collectible SteelBooks on January 21.
Special features for Kill Bill: Volume 1 include “The Making of Kill Bill: Volume 1,” a behind-the-scenes featurette, along with the “5, 6, 7, 8’s” bonus musical performances. Kill Bill: Volume 2 will have a “The Making of Kill Bill: Volume 2” featurette, a deleted scene, and the “Chingon” musical performance.
Jackie Brown will come with a making-of documentary, “Breaking Down Jackie Brown,” along with a variety of interview clips with Tarantino and the movie’s cast. Reservoir Dogs will have newly commissioned artwork from Dark Horse Comics’ Justin Erickson.
Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 will arrive on Hulu on February 1, 2025.
