FIITJEE centres in North India shut down after teachers resigned due to unpaid salaries.

FIITJEE centres across Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh have shut down.

FIITJEE coaching centres in North India have shut down in the past week, including locations in Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Varanasi, Delhi, and Patna. This happened after many teachers resigned due to unpaid salaries. The sudden closure has caused a lot of stress for students and parents, as they were not given any prior notice and are now unsure about refunds.

A protest took place at the FIITJEE centre in Sector 62, Noida, on Wednesday evening. Parents gathered outside the centre and said that it shut down without warning, accusing the management of taking the full fees without offering any refunds.

Parents said that the operational head at the Sector 62 centre, Sanjeev Jha, sent a message late Tuesday evening saying the centre would be closed. On Wednesday, they filed a complaint at the Sector 58 police station.

“This is unfair. We paid all the fees, and now the centre is closed with no warning or refund. We need answers,” said one of the parents.

FIR Registered Against 4 Directors

Parents in Ghaziabad, whose children were enrolled at one of the affected centres lodged an FIR ten days ago, accusing the institute of abruptly ceasing operations and disrupting their children’s academic preparation.

The complaint alleges that teachers at the Ghaziabad centre had not received their salaries.

DCP Rajesh Kumar said, “The FIITJEE coaching centre, located at D67 RDC Rajnagar, Kabeer Nagar, has several students enrolled. Some parents filed complaints with the district education officer, stating that the centre had collected full-year fees in advance, but the teachers were not attending classes. Additionally, the management allegedly failed to pay the teachers’ salaries. As a result, the management appears to be attempting to escape the situation.”

“The District Education Officer investigated the issue and submitted a report to the Kabeer Nagar police station. An FIR has been filed against the four directors of FIITJEE,” he added.

Parents Demand Action As FIITJEE Remains Silent

The recent closure of several FIITJEE coaching centres in North India has left students and parents in distress. The shutdown followed the resignation of the academic staff due to unpaid salaries, leaving families uncertain about their children’s education and the fate of their fees.

Parents of affected students have been vocal in their demands for accountability. Avinash Kumar, a parent, expressed his frustration, saying, “We enrolled our child in FIITJEE, and now it has shut down. The management is not answering their phones. They are all frauds. They must return our money. The government needs to take notice, as this is about my child’s future.”

Another concerned parent from Noida, Rajiv Kumar Chaudhary, said, “We are filing an FIR against FIITJEE today. We paid 100% of the fees for a five-year program, with two years still remaining. On Monday, we received a message from FIITJEE suggesting that we transfer our children to Aakash Institute. We will decide where to send our child for further coaching, not FIITJEE.”

“FIIT JEE runs a centre in Noida Sector 58, where the classes were not being conducted for two days. So, some guardians and children have come to Sector 58, Noida, police station, asking their money to be refunded if the classes are not happening anymore. We have called FIIT JEE head DK Goel to the station. This matter will be sorted out soon,” said Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ram Badan Singh.

This crisis has come at a particularly sensitive time for students, as it follows the recent JEE Mains exam, held from January 22 to 24, with more sessions scheduled for January 28, 29, and 30, 2025.

Founded in 1992 by IIT Delhi graduate DK Goel, FIITJEE is a well-established name in coaching for JEE and NEET entrance exams. The institute has 72 centres across 41 cities and employs over 300 staff members.

The sudden shutdown of several FIITJEE centres has left parents and students in a state of uncertainty. FIITJEE’s management has yet to issue any official statement regarding the closure or explain how they intend to address the issue of fee refunds and resolve the ongoing concerns.

FIITJEE is no stranger to controversy. In December last year, a viral video featuring FIITJEE’s chairman DK Goel verbally abusing employees during an official online meeting sparked widespread outrage on social media. The incident unfolded when an employee from the Thane branch raised a question about the company’s recent investments in the Edtech sector. Goel’s response was one of intense and unprovoked anger.

Despite the staff member pointing out that the information was publicly available, Goel’s anger escalated. His remarks not only criticized the employee’s competence but also included personal attacks on the worker’s mother.

In the video, Goel can be heard angrily shouting, “Useless people… what kind of person are you? Do you even know who your father is, the person who wrote this? Nonsense. Go ask your mother who your father is.” His rage continues to intensify as he demands, “Who is this bl**dy person? Throw him out of Mumbai!”
