Flavor Flav remembers one of the wildest moments in reality TV history like it was yesterday.

“Oh my God. Man, let me tell you something, man, that was one of the most craziest episodes,” the Flavor of Love star recalls to Entertainment Weekly during an interview about his time on The Masked Singer. “Oh my God, man, when that girl pooped on my floor, it was so stink, you could smell it through the TV.”

The former Public Enemy rapper — who topped our list of the best reality stars of the 2000s — is able to instantly recall the infamous moment from the premiere episode of his reality dating series’ second season, in which Tykeisha “Somethin'” Thomas had a bit of an accident while filming. “After we did the toast, I was like, ‘What is that f—ed up smell in my crib, yo?'” Flav asked in a confessional on the 2006 episode, only to reveal that Thomas had pooped on the staircase of the mansion that served as the contestants’ home for the duration of the season.

“Everybody see that Flav had a heart because I kept her around and I gave her another chance,” he tells EW. “And that’s Flav, you know, I have a big heart. I have love for people, you know what I’m saying? And I don’t condemn people for mistakes that they make. ‘Cause we’re all human and we all make mistakes. You know what I’m saying?”

Thomas advanced past eight other contestants on her season, two after her unfortunate incident. She was eliminated by Flav on the season’s third episode alongside Britney “Tiger” Morano, at the same time, Jasmine “Payshintz” Dare quit.

Flav continues, “Sometimes people make mistakes and they want to be forgiven for it. Who am I not to forgive? And not only that but yeah, that was a great episode. It was crazy.”

While at first, the discovery of the staircase droppings sends the cast into a panic (“As I’m goin’ up the steps, I look down, and I was like, ‘Nooo!'” Maria “Spunkeey” Dunbar says in an episode 1 confessional), Thomas was quickly identified as the culprit.

“Oh my God, that smell was somethin’, so I think I really gave her the right name,” Flav joked on the episode. Thomas herself explained, “I was holding it, and out of nowhere my stomach was just like, ‘F— it.’ So it just like, pushed itself out.”

In a 2014 retrospective on the show, co-creator Mark Cronin testified to Flav’s openness when it came to the dating pool, recalling, “The great thing about Flavor Flav was that he was completely open-minded about what kind of woman he would date. He’d been in love with a 6 foot 2 Danish woman; clearly he had a very open mind about race, shapes, sizes, attitudes, walks of life. So we could cast almost anybody.”

When asked if he keeps in touch with any of the former contestants on his show, Flav admits, “I don’t speak to none of them or hear from any of them. Know what I’m saying?” But he does shout out breakout reality star Tiffany “New York” Pollard: “I do applaud New York, first of all, because they came on my show and they helped me make great television, and not only that, but it helped put them on a good platform. Well, maybe New York, she’s still on TV and she’s doing her thing still.”

Flav continues, “I am grateful to all of those girls that came on my show because they helped me make great television. And we had a great TV show, and it was number one. You know what I’m saying? So I couldn’t have did that without those girls. Was I really looking for love? No. Why? Because I’m an entertainer. You know what I’m saying?”
