Forza Horizon 5 Coming to PS5 is Yet Another Trojan Horse Microsoft is Gifting Sony
PlayStation fans may be elated over Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5, but it could be Xbox’s most effective weapon for taking over the Sony platform.
The Forza Horizon 5 PS5 release date announcement marked the start of the game’s pre-order period on Sony’s current-generation console. A day later, the open-world arcade racer has already found itself at the top of numerous PS Store pre-order charts. As noted by Push Square, the Premium Edition Forza Horizon 5 is currently the most pre-ordered PlayStation game in the UK, with its Standard edition ranking third. Across the pond, two of the game’s three editions are currently in the top five most pre-ordered PS5 titles in the US, while holding the top two spots in Canada.

The first Forza Horizon game set in Mexico is also doing great in the country that inspired its setting, where its Standard and Premium Editions presently hold the top two pre-order spots on the PS Store. Looking a bit further south, the game’s upcoming port is currently the most pre-ordered PS5 title in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, while holding the fifth spot in Peru.
Forza Horizon 5 Is Dominating PS5’s European Pre-Order Charts
Aside from the UK, the game is also currently leading many other European PS Store pre-order charts, including those in Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Ditto for the Netherlands, Greece, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Croatia, Poland, and the Czech Republic. In many European countries, two or even all three editions of Forza Horizon 5 currently rank among the top five most pre-ordered PS Store games, suggesting that the Old Continent is particularly excited about this port.
The Forza Horizon 5 PS5 version is also currently leading the PS Store pre-order charts in Australia and New Zealand. Even Japan, which is far from a big market for Microsoft, currently has the Premium Edition of the game as its fifth most pre-ordered title on the PS Store, with the Standard Edition ranking ninth. This strong pre-release performance suggests that Forza Horzion 5 is shaping up to be a big hit on Sony’s consoles, and could even outsell the PS5 version of Sea of Thieves—which is still Microsoft’s most successful PlayStation port not called Call of Duty. Even more Xbox titles, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, are expected to reach Sony’s current-gen console in the near future.
