Monarto Safari Resort is set to introduce glamping accommodations later this year, adding a high-end outdoor hospitality offering to its already diverse lodging options.
The new resort, operated by Journey Beyond, is scheduled to open on May 28, with bookings now available, according to a report by Power FM.
While the resort features traditional hotel-style accommodations, its glamping tents are expected to appeal to travelers seeking a more immersive nature experience.
Zoos SA Chief Executive Elaine Benstead highlighted the resort’s commitment to blending luxury with a natural setting.
“It’s been designed to look really natural, there’s a lot of stone, rammed earth, timber, really high caliber,” she said. The property overlooks a waterhole and provides an opportunity for guests to stay close to African wildlife in an environment designed for both comfort and conservation.
The trend of blending luxury amenities with authentic outdoor experiences has gained traction across the industry, with properties integrating spa facilities, fine dining, and curated adventure experiences to attract high-value guests.
The resort’s glamping accommodations are positioned to complement this movement, offering an alternative to traditional camping while maintaining an upscale appeal.
In addition to lodging, Monarto Safari Resort provides guests with guided dawn and dusk safaris across 550 hectares of open plains, where herds of African animals roam freely.
This level of experiential travel aligns with a growing consumer preference for stays that combine adventure, sustainability, and comfort. A portion of each booking is directed toward the Zoos SA Conservation Fund, further appealing to environmentally conscious travelers.
As the resort nears its official opening, industry stakeholders may find value in observing its approach to glamping integration.
The combination of well-appointed tents with conservation-driven tourism could offer insights into how outdoor hospitality businesses can cater to a market seeking both exclusivity and authenticity.
