A holiday park in Towyn has received approval to expand its offerings with a new six-lane bowling alley, an extended arcade, and additional facilities aimed at enhancing guest experience and centralizing operations.

The Conwy planning committee approved the proposal from the Golden Gate Holiday Centre during its February meeting at Bodlondeb.

The expansion will include a high-quality indoor leisure complex featuring a rooftop bar, an outdoor play area, and 14 additional parking spaces.

As part of the development, the reception and administrative offices will be relocated to streamline operations and improve customer service, according to a report by the Rhyl Journal.

SF Parks, the family-owned company that operates Golden Gate Holiday Centre, previously managed the former bowling centre at Mostyn Champneys in Llandudno for over a decade.

The company stated that the new addition would create seven part-time jobs while maintaining the existing workforce of eight full-time and 20 part-time employees.

Councillor Ifor Lloyd supported the proposal, stating:

“I’m very happy to see a local company expand and to see how many people it employs in the area. I’m very happy to propose we go with the recommendation.” The committee voted unanimously in favour of the project.

For holiday park operators, the development highlights the growing demand for diversified on-site entertainment.

With increased competition in the outdoor hospitality sector, enhancing guest experiences with modern amenities can be a key factor in attracting and retaining visitors.

The addition of leisure facilities such as bowling alleys and arcades can provide year-round appeal, helping businesses maintain steady occupancy rates outside peak seasons.

As the outdoor hospitality industry evolves, investments in entertainment infrastructure can serve as a model for operators looking to boost revenue streams and enhance guest satisfaction.

The approval of this project reflects a broader industry trend toward integrated, experience-driven amenities within holiday parks.
