Haven has expanded its partnership with J D Wetherspoon, opening a new pub at Haggerston Castle Holiday Park in Northumberland.

The £1.8 million venue, named The Sir Thomas Haggerston, opened this week as part of the holiday park’s 2025 season launch.

This marks the second Wetherspoons to open at a Haven park this year, following a similar launch at Cleethorpes Beach earlier in March.

The pub will operate daily from 8 a.m., closing at 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and extending to midnight on weekends.

During peak summer months, weekday hours will also be extended to midnight, with Friday and Saturday closing times pushed to 1 a.m. Alcohol service begins at 10 a.m., aligning with the licensing of other Haven-branded restaurants.

“We’re thrilled to kick off the 2025 season by welcoming our owners and holidaymakers to our brand-new pub,” said manager Jemma Marshall in a report by The Sun

She added that the Haven team is excited “to bring our exclusive partnership with J D Wetherspoon to a new park for guests to enjoy throughout the year.”

The Haggerston Castle opening is part of Haven’s broader £6.7 million expansion plan, which includes four new Wetherspoons locations at various parks.

The London Stone at Kent Coast Holiday Park opened earlier this month, while The Red Rocks at Devon Cliffs Holiday Park is set to launch on April 29.

Haven’s partnership with J D Wetherspoon reflects a continued investment in enhancing guest amenities.

The company has committed £8.3 million to upgrade food and beverage offerings across its parks, with the goal of modernizing facilities and improving guest experiences.

Since 2021, Haven has invested £410 million in infrastructure, emphasizing long-term improvements to its accommodations, dining options, and recreational facilities.

For holiday park operators, Haven’s approach highlights the potential benefits of integrating well-known hospitality brands into on-site amenities.

A successful first year for The Five Stones, the first Wetherspoons at Haven Primrose Valley, saw 168,000 pints sold and over 314,000 meals served, underscoring the demand for familiar dining options within holiday park settings.

Looking ahead, Haven is exploring further expansion, with plans for an additional Wetherspoons at Presthaven Holiday Park pending approval.

As competition in the holiday park sector continues to grow, strategic partnerships with recognized brands could serve as a model for increasing customer satisfaction and driving additional revenue streams.
