Ahead of the excitement surrounding HBO’s The Last of Us‘ comeback next month with Season 2, eagle-eyed fans of the TV series have discovered an amazing detail regarding Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, and their connection to The Last of Us‘ outbreak day, with many shouting from the rooftops that they were “literally born for this role.”
Recently, in a bid to turn the heat up for the upcoming season, HBO released a heart-pounding new trailer of what viewers can expect to see from The Last of Us Season 2 in only a few short weeks. While most fans of the game knew this season would be a lot darker and more emotional than the last, they also saw the welcomed return of airborne spores, which played a big part throughout The Last of Us games. However, it wasn’t just the spores that got fans excited, as the Wyoming Museum of Science and History could also be seen, which is one of TLOU Part 2‘s most wholesome and emotionally charged scenes between Joel and Ellie. As well as Joel’s broken watch making an appearance, which Sarah gave him before she died, and a first look at the Seraphites, viewers got to see an angry Ellie telling Joel “You swore”, seemingly meaning that she had found out about his dark secret.

The Last of Us’ Bella Ramsey Was Almost Born on the Day the Outbreak Happened in the Show

On Reddit, fans of The Last of Us have uncovered an intriguing detail about Bella Ramsey and how they are a lot more connected to the TV show’s Outbreak Day than first thought. Bella was born on September 25th, 2003, which, strangely enough, is one day before outbreak day happened in HBO’s The Last of Us, and, for an extra bit of coincidence, one day before Joel Miller’s birthday too.
In The Last of Us game and the TV series, the Cordyceps brain infection officially began on Joel’s birthday, which is September 26 and reached Austin, Texas in the early hours of the next morning, but the show changed its timeline to where the pandemic began in 2003, rather than sticking with the video game timeline of 2013.
Bella Ramsey being born one day before the outbreak happened in the HBO show has further solidified some fans’ opinions regarding how the talented actor was made to play Ellie, and it’s certainly a very cool and fun coincidence, that’s for sure. After learning this fun fact, one Last of Us fan said that they were “literally born for this role,” while “wow” was all another commenter could reply with in the Reddit thread. Ramsey is set to reprise their role as Ellie in Season 2, which will see a massive shift from the character’s more hopeful and playful nature in Season 1 into one that is riddled with guilt, revenge, and anger.
Also starring Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, and Young Mazino as Jesse, The Last of Us season two will premiere on April 13 on HBO Max.
