The HGTV Smart Home Giveaway has made its way to San Antonio to award one lucky winner a new smart home, a new smart car and a $100,000 cash prize.
Every year, the home improvement- and real estate-focused television network HGTV decks out a home in a different U.S. city with cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly appliances. This year’s home is right here in San Antonio, remodeled by KM Builders and designed by award-winning interior designer Poonam Moore.
“I love seeing clients’ faces when their spaces are done,” said Moore. “I love giving them what they always dreamt of but beyond.”
Along with the keys to the house, the winner of the giveaway will also receive a GLC Plug-In Hybrid SUV from Mercedes-Benz and a cash prize of $100,000, together adding up to over $1 million in prizes.
The 3,000-square-foot house includes smart technology features throughout every step of the home.
Moore made sure to include embedded stove tops in the kitchen for easy cleaning, toe-kick lighting throughout the spacious kitchen and automatic skylights that open and close over a catwalk leading to the backyard’s furnished balcony.
Also added are modernized black windows and chandelier lighting for an elevated living experience

Warm blue tones, calm medium browns and muted blacks paired with cozy but luxurious textures give the house a lived-in yet elegant aesthetic, Moore’s goal when designing.
Having never been to San Antonio before this project, Moore had to get familiar with what the city is all about.
San Antonio’s “diversity, art scene and food culture,” as well as the city’s love for sports, all played a part in selecting the right colors, textures and amenities for the home. “The inspiration for this home came directly from its location,” said Moore.
The private basketball court in the backyard is an homage to San Antonio’s love for the Spurs and basketball, the eco-friendly cooling system was installed to keep the home cool in the scorching South Texas heat and the Western touches throughout the house make the home feel true to Texas.

“When designing it, I wanted to blend touches of mid-century modern influences with a playful Texas twist, creating a fresh, fun, stylish aesthetic that sets this home apart,” said Moore.
The home, originally built in the 1950s, has been newly designed for indoor-outdoor living and features three bedrooms, three spa-inspired bathrooms and a fully furnished outdoor two-story deck and patio.
Keeping true to San Antonio’s love for sports, the home features a private basketball court with a scoreboard that keeps track all on its own, as well as multiple gaming consoles and a cold plunge tank.
An hourlong special hosted by Mike Jackson will air on Friday, April 4 on HGTV, HGTV GO and Hogar de HGTV. It will give viewers a full tour of the house, take them through the design process and give them a look at all the amenities included.
The giveaway will stay open through May 23 at 5 p.m. ET. Participants can enter up to two times a day. Once on the HGTV website and once on the Food Network website .
