We’re still smack dab in the middle of ski season, meaning you still have plenty of time to hit the slopes and carve up your best turns. And a brand-new hotel is waiting to welcome you in Colorado to do just that.
In January, Breckenridge, a mountain known for its unbelievable snowfall totals, which average close to 300 inches per season, welcomed the Hotel Alpenrock Breckenridge, Curio Collection by Hilton, ushering in a new era of hospitality for this powderhound destination.
“Hotel Alpenrock is a truly unique addition to Breckenridge, offering an elevated lodging experience that embodies both the spirit of this historic town and the adventurous energy of its visitors,” said Meredith Ash, the hotel’s general manager, in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure. “With its exceptional location, curated design, and thoughtful amenities, Hotel Alpenrock promises to set a new standard for ski resort hospitality.”

The hotel is located on Peak 9, which happens to be the best place on the mountain for beginner skiers, though it also has access to intermediate and advanced runs for those who want to advance their skiing and riding. The peak is also the closest base area to downtown Breck and Main Street, making it a perfect spot for both a day on the slopes and in town.
Inside the hotel, guests will find 205 guest rooms and 24 suites, each with spacious bathrooms and bespoke furnishings. Those looking to stay awhile should consider upgrading to the larger suites, which include kitchenettes, living and dining areas, and separate bedrooms. However, the coolest design feature in all of the rooms has to be the carpets, which are inspired by a topographical map of the surrounding mountain range.

That mountain aesthetic weaves its way throughout the hotel, including in the lobby, where the reception desk is meant to resemble granite boulders, along with custom lighting throughout inspired by ski gondolas and an art collection that pays homage to the history of Breckenridge.
Guests at Hotel Alpenrock can also kick back for an unforgettable après-ski experience at one of its three bars and restaurants, including the only speakeasy in town. The food and beverage offerings include Edwin, its signature restaurant named after the 19th-century Breckenridge prospector-turned-naturalist Edwin Carter, which serves artisanal sourdough pizzas and cornmeal-dusted trout, and The Carter, a bar where the craft cocktails are always flowing as are the slopeside bites like elk green chili. Then, there’s Canary, the hotel’s speakeasy where every guest can get a drink tailored to their taste and mood, all inspired by Breckenridge’s historic prohibition-era dance halls.

Of course, the hotel is here to help you have fun outside too, via its slopeside ski valet, on-site Breckenridge Sports retail and rental shop, Magical Moose Kids’ Program, and the Naturalist’s Journey at Alpenrock, an exclusive docent-led tour of the Edwin Carter Museum.
