Afterschool Universe is an out-of-school-time astronomy program for middle school students that explores basic astronomy concepts through engaging hands-on activities and then takes participants on a journey through the Universe beyond the Solar System. If you are interested in the Afterschool Universe program, visit their website at http://universe.nasa.gov/afterschool/. This video is public domain and can be downloaded at: http://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/goto?1011

This video shows a simple kinesthetic activity that demonstrates how all the information we obtain about objects in the universe is carried to us by light, and it takes time for light to travel to us from those objects. The amount of time it takes depends on how far away they are.
