There are a variety of tough enemies that players will encounter in Atomfall, but perhaps the most intimidating foes are the hulking B.A.R.D. Robots that patrol areas like The Interchange, Skethermoor, and even Wyndham Village. These violent walking weapons are no joke. If aggravated, they can completely wipe the player’s health bar with a hail of bullets or a blast of fire.

In a Game Rant interview, an Atomfall dev talks about some of the factions from the folk horror-inspired Druids to the Cold War vibes of Protocol.
However, these robots are not invincible. They can be destroyed, but doing so will require a lot of ammo and some knowledge of their weak spots. So this guide will show Atomfall players how to survive a battle with a big, bad, B.A.R.D. Robot.
How to Beat a B.A.R.D. Robot
B.A.R.D. Robots have a glass case on the top of their heads that houses their sensors. This can be damaged by gunfire, so shoot the glass until it shatters, and then shoot the sensors. When the sensors are busted enough, the B.A.R.D. Robot will start sparking with electricity and declare that it needs to vent heat before collapsing.
When this happens, that means that the Atomic Battery that powers the robot has been ejected from its back. Players now need to rush over to the robot’s back and remove the Atomic Battery the same way they would as if they were looting a body. Once the battery is removed, the robot will be deactivated, and the player will now have a shiny new Atomic Battery.
How To Beat Flamethrower B.A.R.D. Robots
Dealing with these robots requires a different strategy, as their sensors will be covered with a metal shield instead of glass. These particular robots will have large gas tanks on their backs and a tank on the flamethrower. These are this robot’s weak points, which have been painted red to make them easy to spot.
Shoot the gas tanks until fire starts to leak out of them. Once the robot has taken enough damage, it’ll go down, and its Atomic Battery will be ejected just like the other robot. Run over, remove it, and that’s a flame-throwing robot down for the count.
General Tips For Fighting B.A.R.D. Robots

Explosives are effective against B.A.R.D. Robots, although it may take quite a few to bring one down. That said, B.A.R.D. Robots can be greatly damaged by red explosive barrels. If one happens to be walking by some barrels and the player has a good shot, blowing up these barrels next to the robot could instantly kill it without needing to remove its Atomic Battery. But don’t worry; the battery can be looted from the wreckage afterward.

Find the answers to the most frequently asked questions Atomfall players have about the game and its requirements.
As for the removal of the Atomic Battery, this needs to be done quickly. The battery will only stay out of the robot’s body for a very short time. If the player fails to remove the battery, it will be re-inserted into the robot, which will then stand up and go back to shooting. The robot can be knocked down again, but the battery will eventually need to be removed.
The location where the player fights a B.A.R.D. Robot also matters. They’ll want to fight the robot in a place that offers plenty of cover. If they stay in the line of fire, the machine guns or flamethrowers will kill them in a matter of seconds. Wait for the robot to stop firing before popping out to damage it.
It’s also a good idea not to fight a B.A.R.D. Robot in an area where there are many other enemies as they’ll get in the way by dealing extra damage or even preventing the Atomic Battery from being removed. So try to fight robots in one-on-one affairs or take out the surrounding enemies before engaging one.
