Lady Gaga is set to appear in the upcoming second season of Wednesday on Netflix. While details about Gaga’s role have yet to be revealed, series star Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams) has addressed what it was like to work with the Oscar winner.
Per IndieWire, Ortega commented on Gaga’s Wednesday casting during an interview at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival. The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star described Gaga’s talents as among the very best she’s ever seen, going on to describe how it felt to be on the same set with not only the 14-time Grammy winner, but Tim Burton – someone else she greatly admires – as well. Ortega then noted how she didn’t know what to expect from Gaga, finding herself pleasantly surprised to find out what she was like in person.

“It’s the best,” Ortega said. “She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim [Burton], two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much.”

Ortega continued, “Then just finding out that she’s such a sweetheart and really kind and reserved, it’s very strange. I love that you never know what to expect from her, but you can always expect kindness and generosity.”

In the first season, Ortega’s Wednesday Addams famously danced to the song “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps. People recreating the dance synced to Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” went viral on social media soon after, garnering the attention of Gaga herself. During Gaga’s time on the Wednesday set, however, this didn’t come up between the singer and Ortega. With that pointed out, Ortega lamented how she didn’t mention it on the set, though she clarified that everyone wanted to treat Gaga respectfully by just keeping things “normal” during production.
“No, actually we didn’t [discuss the dance]. I don’t think we did. We should have,” she said. “Actually, I can’t remember. Maybe I just saw an interview clip of her talking about it, because I feel like I’m fabricating this story in my head, but I think honestly on that day, we all were just so lucky that she came to do the show that we kept it as normal as we could.”
Lady Gaga Has Given Praise to Jenna Ortega
Gaga has also had nice things to say about Ortega after their collaboration on Wednesday. She recently addressed her casting, via Entertainment Weekly, sharing how she didn’t want to say too much about it as she didn’t “want to give away anything about being part of the show. With that noted, she added, “I want to keep it extra secret – but, I love Jenna [Ortega], and I really had an amazing time!”
