We saw some drama on this week’s episode of Survivor 48 when Mary Zheng would just start sprinting away from Sai Hughley in an attempt to go idol hunting without a babysitter slowing her down and watching her every move. But it turns out there was even more drama surrounding that situation that did not make the episode, and you can watch it right here and right now.
In an exclusive deleted scene that can be watched above, we see Mary once again on the move and searching for an idol, But the real hell that breaks lose is when Sai returns back to camp to see that not only is Mary gone, but her two alliance partners, Justin Pioppi and Cedrek McFadden, have absolutely no interest in following her. Suffice it to say, the woman is not pleased. But Cedrek and Justin have other ideas.

“This morning, the initial thought on everyone’s mind is: Sai played her idol last night,” Cedrek explains. “That puts the idol back into play. And so the concern became: We have to keep an eye on Mary because Sai does not want Mary to find that idol. And in her mind, that means babysitting Mary. That means going wherever Mary goes and just being a 24-hour sitter. I’m not doing that.”
This attitude leaves Sai “pissed” and she tells the self-proclaimed butt doctor, “I will keep an eye on her. Because you did not keep an eye on her.”
“I’m not chasing a little woman around,” Cedrek says.
“You don’t have to chase her,” Sai presses. “But you weren’t even babysitting well.”

Eventually Cedrek responds, “I’m going to watch, but if she gets up and leaves, I’m not following her. I’ll tell you why. Because again, that’s distracting. Because then I can then go for myself.”
That’s not good enough for Sai, who answers, “Cedrek, you are in a game where you are going to have to do things you do not want to do. We need somebody to have our eyes on her. I thought you had your eyes on her.”
Another person who doesn’t plan to spend his (albeit all-too-short time) in Fiji playing nursemaid is Justin, who at one point tells Mary: “I didn’t sign up to be a babysitter out here” and leaves to allow her to continue her search alone.

“So Sai approaches Cedrek and I and says, ‘I got a new job for you guys and we want you to babysit Mary,’” Justin explains in a confessional interview. “But Cedrek and I, we didn’t come out to play babysitter. We came out to play Survivor, and I don’t know anybody who would want to sign up for babysitting duties right now in the middle of Fiji. Mary’s out here to play, too. And who am I to say, ‘Mary, you can’t go look for the idol.’ I’m no one’s boss. This isn’t Luigi’s. I’m not keeping tabs on these people. And I got some stuff to do out here, too. I ain’t out here to babysit anybody or to protect someone else’s game. I’m here for my game only and what’s best for me.”
Of course, what would have been best for Justin is to not get put on that boat for the journey, but that’s a whole different story. Watch the entire scene play out in the video above, and also make sure to read our full episode recap.
