Kat Dennings is reminding everyone that there are some really good ghosts out there, too.

While visiting The Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday, the Wandavision star opened up about her experience growing up in a “beautifully and extremely haunted” house from the 1600s, including the time a ghost saved her mother from getting injured in a freak accident.

“Oh, this is a very real thing. So, everyone in the house had their own experiences with the haunting situation, but my mom almost had a horrible accident,” Dennings explained to host Jennifer Hudson. “We had a basement that was horrifying — it was so scary down there — and the stairs were very rickety and very shallow. And my mom, once, she tripped and fell down the stairs, but she was stopped in midair by something.”

Dennings explained that her mom was abruptly halted in her free fall and was quickly “put back to standing” by what she believed to be supernatural forces. “I swear to God,” she told the audience. “I have goosebumps thinking about this.”

The 2 Broke Girls alum noted that she recently asked her mom about the incident to make sure that she was remembering it correctly. “She was like, ‘Yup,’” Dennings said. “The only injury she had was trying to stop herself on the wall and she hurt her pinky and had to put ice on it, but she was completely stopped in midair and put back by… something.”

Hudson appeared to believe her guest’s spooky story, adding, “Well, at least y’all had good ghosts.”

Dennings revealed that wasn’t the only supernatural encounter that she and her family had in the home, either. “My room was in the attic. Relax! That sounds bad! But it wasn’t like a rickety old attic, it was like a nice [attic]. It was painted pink and it had my Hanson posters and my Tyrese posters, all my stuff,” she said. “And, sometimes, if I played my music too loud, my CDs would fly across the room, like off of shelves.”

They also dealt with the other more commonly known ghost phenomena, too. “Things like the lights would turn on and off,” she said. “You know, just all the classics.”

As a child, Dennings said she really didn’t mind her phantom roommates. “They were nice! I was at the age where I was very open-minded,” she explained. “Now, I’d be like, ‘We’re selling the house and we’re leaving. We’re getting out now.’”
