Keke Palmer not only won Entertainer of the Year at the NAACP Image Awards, but immediately proved herself worthy with a killer speech.

The One of Them Days star was stunned as she took the stage to accept her win on Saturday, and was quick to celebrate one of her fellow nominees as she explained why.

“Oh my gosh! Guys! I didn’t think I was gonna win because,” she then pointed directly to Wicked star Cynthia Erivo in the crowd, before delivering an impression of the famous “Defying Gravity” riff from the musical film. In response, the audience — Erivo included — showered her with applause.

“Girl, you killed that role. You kill every role you do,” Palmer told the Oscar-nominee. “I mean, your power, your vulnerability, your strength. You are exceptional, Cynthia.”

After Erivo mouthed “thank you” in response, Palmer went on to shout out their fellow nominees in the category, which included NFL Hall of Famer turned ESPN presenter Shannon Sharpe, comedian Kevin Hart, and rapper Kendrick Lamar.

“Obviously, Shannon, my hunky uncy, I love you, pookie. And Kendrick and Kevin — it’s such an amazing category to be in with all these people,” said Palmer. “It is a beautiful night. It’s Black History Month, y’all! But I just want to say, it’s so important that we all come here together and celebrate one another with one another.”

She continued, “I was with Aunjanue Ellis at the ABFF event a few nights ago, and she said something that I think is so important: that you don’t always have to ask for a seat at nobody’s table. Just make your own table with your folks. You know what I’m saying?”

Calling upon her own 20 years of experience in the industry, Palmer noted, “Nobody has uplifted me more than you all, the people in this room. I remember when Akeelah and the Bee first came out, and it didn’t do well in the theaters, and it was when it became available on DVD that you all made it the classic that it is.”

“While we continue to ask for more money, because we need that,” Palmer said with emphasis. “It’s important that we remember that what we choose and what we deem as important is enough. And that’s all I want to say.”

The multi-hyphenate has enjoyed a particularly successful year. In addition to starring opposite SZA in the Issa Rae-produced comedy One of Them Days, Palmer released her second book, Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative, leant her voice to The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, and picked up several accolades for her gig as the host of NBC’s Password.

In addition to her many accolades, the burgeoning mogul has a penchant for being at the center of viral moments, including her previous rendition of the “Defying Gravity,” during an interview with SZA and Rae.

“You have got to save space for the lyrics of ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked,” Palmer says in the clip, referencing the Erivo and Ariana Grande-created meme. “It makes me feel like ‘you can’t stop me. No one is gonna bring me down!”

She then delivered her rendition of Erivo’s signature belt before adding, “That’s a slave hymn,” causing Rae and SZA to burst into laughter. “Come on! When she got up there and she told those people, y’all it is really good,” Palmer continued. “Y’all know I ain’t lying.”
