Kenlake State Resort Park will undergo a $9.3 million campground renovation. The project, part of the “New Kentucky Home” initiative, was approved by the General Assembly in 2023 and aims to enhance the park’s camping facilities.

The renovation will add 63 full-service campsites, six camper cabins with lake views, a 2,000-square-foot bathhouse, pull-through sites, sewer connections, upgraded electrical and water lines, additional handicap-accessible sites, and two new restroom facilities near the lake.

Due to construction, the campground will be closed for the 2025 season, with work expected to be completed by spring 2026.

In a statement, Governor Andy Beshear highlighted Kenlake’s “full, rich historical heritage” and its significance to Kentuckians and visitors.

He said the project represents the largest campground renovation in the state parks system in this funding cycle and emphasized the opportunities it will create for future visitors.

Parks Commissioner Russ Meyer joined Beshear in announcing the renovation, which is part of the state’s broader effort to improve public recreation facilities.

Kenlake State Resort Park is located at 542 Kenlake Road in Hardin, at the confluence of Trigg, Calloway, and Marshall counties.

The park has long served as a destination for both leisure and business retreats, offering proximity to Land Between the Lakes, Aurora, and Murray.

With a backdrop of Kentucky Lake, the park provides a range of activities and amenities, including lodging, a restaurant, hiking, fishing, a marina, a swimming pool, a playground, and seasonal events.
